It's good. there aren't really a ton of versions of this on youtube. my favourite version is still when my teacher played it for me-cause i learned it- but he has horrible dynamics. it could be a bit faster and lighter too, but overall decent
great story behind the production of the song. George Cobb got challenged to produce it in front of a audience which Rachmaninoff was in attendance ( cobb was unaware). Rachamninoff said," nice melody, but the rhythm is all wrong"/
I've added a link at the bottom of this video's description area to a site with scans of 166 George L Cobb's compositions. Some of my other favs of his are Alabama Jubilee, Are You From Dixie, and Peter Gink.
yo, um, is there sheet music for that version of this piece? i was following along with the sheet music and first of all, the ending is much different... is it just the interlocking chords of rach sonata 2? i wanna kno
Yup, it was the 2nd sonata, transposed and simplified. (thinned out). I'm so happy somebody recognized it! There's no sheet music - it's just my arrangement, influenced by the piano roll version and Dick Wellstood, with some of my own ideas.
Smooth and solid! Thanks.

Ok, nowadays they like too fast ragtimes, but you refused to wrestle down that piano, you gave it a tender treatment, perfect.

Awesome. Not what I was expecting.
It would be cool if you could do a rag based on his OP. 23. 5. Prelude.
