Catedral de Santiago de Compostella. Het wierook vat gaat de hele kerk door 'n symbool voor shoon zijn van de mensen, ook hier komen veel Pelgrims die zich niet zomaar ergens kunnen wassen, vandaar dat men dit op deze manier doen.

I wonder how many people in this Church were there to pray. Seems as if there are many people there to just see this censer in action. Quite sad.

With approximately 100,000 pilgrims arriving here each year, I would guess most of them would be saying prayers of thanksgiving. I know I did!

I was there and I can assure you that for me and for many others this mass was very inpressive, walk the camino and it will help you to look differently on many thingws

Que bonitos son los ritos de las diferentes religiones. Una lastima que las religiones nos estan matando.

La mania de convertir a todos. La falta de control de poblacion. El fomento por silencio de las guerras nos hace a todos complices del mal.

A veces quiciera que el Vaticano, Mecca y Jerusalem desapareciera del mapa a ver que causa nueva buscan para peliar y matarse. Lastima porque me gusta el arte, la historia y lo positivo de la fe.

typically. eigentlich weiss man das im vorhinein und braucht keine kamera, um das zu dokumentieren... man geniesst nur und findet sich in dem moment oder auch nícht. und die klatscherei fand ich völlig daneben.

Der Mann mit der Kamera war auf seiner fuenfste spatzergang als pilgrim. Die erste vier hat er seine Frau damit. Sie hat gestorben inzwischen.

Er wolte bilder mit ihm nach Dublin mitnehmen.

I went there this past Dec. and it's amazing. I asked the priest after the ceremony why was this originated in such way? He said that back then the church would always be packed for the mass and people would smell, thus acquiring this method. The Botafumeiro spreading A LOT of smoke *to rid the smell*. They have not stop this ritual due to the Botafumeiro being the main symbol in Catedral of Galicia. So when you think of Santiago de Composela (the saint of Galicia) think of the Botafumeiro. :0)

I have never been able to identify the hymn or words sung during the botafumeiro swinging.

The Botafumeiro knocked the priest who catches it on his rear end in 2004. I was there on Saturday, July 24 at the noon pilgrims mass! I saw it happen. That censer is dangerous, hot and heavy — it is made from solid sterling silver. He did not seem hurt when he got up.

We calling BOTAFUMEIRO. it is nothinmg about circus...in us doesn´t know much about old cultures because your country is a baby...but botafumeiro is for the bad smell of peregrins that arrived to the church. The smoke is incense...but now is a tradition GALIZA CEIVE!!
