  • great work, and yes, it looks real

  • Sweet

  • what school do you go to and how long have you been going

  • It runs 1/60 of a second too fast dude, get your act together!! ;-P Really beautiful work tho, love it!

  • is this 3dmax or Maya? Did you use Vray?

  • HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

  • Time, Mr. Freeman? Is it really that time again?

  • forgive me for my ignorance, but what are you studying? i love 3d modeling and animation, i also like everything related with desing. i use sketchup and vray and have been learning 3ds max desing for 3 days. i thought i could only use it for architecture (wich i'm willing to study in one year when i enter the college) but now i see this, i think my vocation could be somewhere else. Would you please help me? :)

  • that would make a cool coffee table

  • Nice'

  • Thats fucking gorgeous.

  • love it, im actually working on a clock project at the moment too, love your one, the one im working on is for class, doing a steampunk themed one, will post when Im done, just unwrapping uvs at the moment and tidying some things up then looking to render in mental ray.

again great example of mental ray and raytracing

  • did you use maya?

  • really nice! Just by curiosity, how long did it take to render ?

  • how much time did it took to render?

  • Wow, that looks really nice!

I'm using Blender, but hoping to get onto Maya sooner or later, how long did that take to render?

  • Amazing... just amazing

  • speed it up next time so that we can see the hour hand move!

  • very pro

  • great work.

  • Stupendous. That is all.

  • FAKE...no only kidding - really cool and smooth.

  • 10/10 nothing wrong with it, brilliant!

  • that is amazing !

  • For more photorealistic look you should add some dust and spots on the surface : ) (Comment from jewelry photographer)

  • Anyone noticed everytime the hand moves its in sync with the seconds on the video..

  • its too perfect so it doesnt look photorealistic. Theres no imperfections or scratches or dents, it just looks too perfect and thus unrealistic. Anyone can set up a HDRI map, but creating realism through textures is where you get the really talented people.

  • PRA

  • first time i saw this i thought it was a recording and not an animation until i read the title instead of accidently clicking it XD

  • Thumbs up if you spent one minute watching this. I do.

  • I think it's awesome

  • amazing what an HDRI can do, huh? good job

  • beautiful. simply beautiful. I am a bit confused though, is this all made from "scratch"?

  • I can just say... Awesome!

  • a quick question, how much memory u have?

  • Nice, minute hand is moving.

  • superb but it makes me wonder why the hell there are 60 seconds to a minute.

  • is this maya? and what school do you go to??

  • Well that was beautiful anything 3D never ceases to Bring a tear to my eye

  • this is the first cg video ive seen today that didnt just totally piss me off. gentle camera motion, great lighting, and clean use of modeling and materials. keep it up

  • i'm glad i've watched this.

  • very beautiful

  • where are you studying?

  • wow, i hang this on my wall

  • i am in love :D

  • 3 people just can't use analog watches

  • Love the textures. Did U use Maya or Max? If Maya can U share the shaders?

  • really nice job, i must admit it looks almost perfect (but im one of the people who can't enjoy movies because i see all the SFX triggers and stuff) so really nice job, how long did it take to render, im thinking about working with HDR lighting, but it has to be quick-rendering

  • *crying* so... beautiful (just imagine that in real time-gotta love Moore's law).

  • very nice i like it ;)

  • lol the second hand of this clock was synced up with my my real clock :P

  • maybe the best rendering I' ve seen..

  • beautifully done

  • o_O))..

    ..looking vry kool..good stuff!!

  • It is photo-realisitc ;-) Good Job

  • Wow, you could easily mistake that for live footage haha

  • Awesome 3D, but you could make it more exiting to watch, I got bored with it :/

  • Nice animation but, i miss depth of field in there.

You might want to add that in since most lenses in the world can't shoot something that close by with having everything in focus.

Except this was shot with a wide-angle, but even then you would notice it.

Try render a separate Z-Depth pass and use that as a lensblur-mask.

  • its a brilliant work.. can u tell me how to u use the Hdr image in 3d studio max ? i have the hdr file but havent really gone through the process of using it... hav any tutorial video can share ?

by the way its a nice animation, which im about to learn lately, thanks for sharing !

  • how long did that take to render?

  • Cool animation ;] great render ;]

  • This looks real! amazing job!

  • flawless wow

  • thats AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • thats not real? O_O good job :D

  • cool 3D! but... boring animation

  • woaw rendering is amazing

  • wow that's so cool it looks real i hope you got a A+.can you make us a tutorial if you have time?

  • That looks fricken brilliant.

  • yeah tell us what grade you got :D

  • very cool.

  • This is just fantastic what you've made here... you can see realy cool quality it simply looks REAL... i would never see difference between real watch and this one... briliant work :) i hope you've got A+ for this :D

  • i am learning about this stuff an can you pleaze : )

  • Very nice!

  • what was the image based lighting of?

  • Was it 3ds max? Easy modeling, good lighting

  • wow, thats a really good job. 5/5

  • Perfect jsut perfect.

  • thanks :)

  • @RandomDirectors i agree ;D

  • @RandomDirectors your'e spelling of just was sort of ironic given the statement

  • yeah u can make an hdr image with photoshop if u have time on your side!

  • its photorealistic, but the plain white background is making me think about it twice.

  • i think the way to do a better is recording your watch with the HD video camera.. Nice job ;-)

  • Very nice job! Its real!

  • Nice job keep up the good work.

  • thanks a lot man, that means a lot coming from you, i really love your work. and your tutorials are great!

  • hey..amzing work dude!!!

nd i need a favour from u...jst tell me the image u used as hdr image.....nd which ligt u used in it!!..plzzz

  • i didnt use a light other then the HDR image for the lighting and then using final gathering, and the HDR image, youll need to get a program called hdr shop to make the files, there might be another program out then but i dont know.

  • @khaoskeith

    is that software free?

  • Also there is a website by Dr. Debevec that has about 15 free HDR images, I use those for class assignments so that I don't need to pay for software. You can find them by entering Debevec lightprobe in Google and go to the Light Probe Image Gallery page where you can download them.

  • u used a HDRI map for this, when rendering what type of file do u use to make it an animation, as apposed to just an image?

    thanks

  • i didnt change the image on the HDRI sphere. you "can" rotate the sphere that the HDRI light map is on, but other then that i just left it all static and only animated the camera.

  • Beautiful professional work!! By the way, i thought HDRI image rotation is always static i mean y wud u wanna rotate it wen ur rotating the camera? Please post a tutorial on this!!

  • nah i think you read my last comment slightly wrong, i "didn't" rotate the HDRI sphere at all. i left it stationary, the only think animated in the scene are the hands of the watch face, and the camera. maybe mages was originally talking about final gathering, in which case "yes" you do have to animate the final gathering file in order to get the shadows to work with the animation, but since the watch is stationary, i didn't have to animate the final gathering shadows.

  • oo ic thx for the reply btw. so u used Final renderer to render that? Srry i am not much familiar with rendering terms and much of the process so excuse me if my point i am trying to convey seems senseless.

  • Thats like friggin AWSOME!! :D

  • haha thank you

  • excelent!,...wich materiald did u use for reflections??

  • well its all made of blinn materials. just messed around with the specs and what not till i got the right amount of it reflecting and the highlights right. the actual image reflecting off the watch tho is a texture on my HDR lighting node. well actually there are a couple of HDR lighting probes you can find online, since you need to have HDR shop to make your own which i dont have haha.

  • wow, u did that just with blinn materials??, I didnt even think about it. Really great. Better beggin to find that texture, thanks for the info!
