Do you keep their fur trimmed? Princess' coat looks really short to me...or is it due to the season?

I trim her in the summer so she's less hot but by this time her coat had mostly grown out. She has long guard hairs but very little undercoat so she looks smaller than other newfs who weigh less. She's only 1 year old so this may change. Her brother, Tank, has a very fluffy and full coat, totally unlike hers. Thanks for asking and feel free to ask anything else. they are great dogs!
