I think both bands great, I was a teen in the 90's so 90's nirvana was a huge influence. Then someone told me back in the day there s a nirvana from the 60's
So found one of there albums. I then became a fan of both
THIS WAS THEIR ONLY CHART HIT (GOT TO ABOUT NO.32 IN1968) I ALSO LIKED "PENTECOST HOTEL" PITY THAT THEY DIDNT BECOME BIGGER HITS. WAS STEVE WINWOOD'S BROTHER A MEMBER OF THE BAND (BELIVE HIS NAME WAS "MUFF")I MOST CERTAINLY ALOT DIFFERENT (MUSICALLY) TO THE "NIRVANA" OF THE .1990'S
not that it makes any difference, but I was just curious what these lyrics mean? are "I can talk to him and I can Love him....Is it meant in some spiritual way, meaning god ( since the bands name has a spiritual reference)? Or is it the more more obvious, that its about a man?
This became famous as the first song with the audio effect of phasing (or flanging) throughout the whole track, like The Small Faces did in Itchycoo Park, during their appearance on french television painter Salvador Dalí splashed black paint over them, Island Records send the painter an invoice for the cleaning.......
cant people just listen to the damb music instead of judging based on there name. who gives a fuck wich Niravan is better, peoples opions are different
If I has to think witch one of the nirvanas could use the name it would be this one. Reason? In my opinion nirvana is more this kind of music rather, than angry or angst. I love both bands and USA version a litle bit more but this one really deserves all credit.
Seems more like Cobain on softer drugs, being less of a misery guts, and embracing a broader and more glorious spectrum of music. I know Cobain wrote some cracking tunes, but this is better in my superior opinion.
@ringolem Someone thinks awfully highly of themselves. Little tip slick, don't act smug about an opinion. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they're all full of shit.
@LobotomizedZombie For godssake man, "superior opinion" was clearly tongue in cheek. Aside from that I don't feel I said anything offensive, certainly nothing to provoke condescending advice about the concept of opinions. I'm no expert on music or either Nirvanas, but as I understand it Cobain was overly angst-ridden and generally stuck to a conventional instrument set up, while the 60's guys explored broader perspective on life and experimented very effectively with different styles and topics.
@ringolem- That's wrong, clearly you're just assuming based on one or two songs. Had you actually taken the time to look up some of the REAL Nirvana's music then you'd see that Kurt was by far a superiour musician and songwriter. He also didn't stick with the "convential instrument set up" as you put it, All Apologies, Dumb etc used violins and cellos. And are also a million miles away from Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Great to see this video on You Tube! If you want to find out the real story about Nirvana, please read my new book "Psychedelic Days," and keep an eye out for my new cd coming out the 13 Dalis.
@94Mccartney- No, no they aren't. The REAL Nirvana, are the Nirvana that took the world by storm and created an anthem for a generation. That's the real Nirvana.
fuchYew. what the fuch or who the fuch do you think you are? all said and done, USA is an infant compared to the rest of the world. this band is UK based band and existed & impacted much earlier. seriously, you state NON USA, which implies the rest of the world is as if not relevant. DUMB FUCH you must be from the bush clan.
well, you can always shove the love peace and hapiness up your arse for your ignoramus comment about the rest of the world. USA aint the only country in the world. anyway, enjoy the music, the love, the peace and the hapiness.
@GunaMalaysia USA are a bunch of ignorant cunts im just saying that they
all come from different backgrounds so its not fair to call them Nirvana uk
they should be called nirvana ireland greece but even tho nirvana uk came first
they never made as much impact Nirvana uk is just another psychedelic rock band while nirvana helped kill hair metal and shifted music towards alternative
Nirvana uk are great but they havent really Changed the world of music
well, Nirvana 1. curt's nirvana is after Nirvana 1. in any way, alternative itself is crawling to it's death. it's a just a phase in the evolution. nowadays it seems the music scene has very much improved with people like bieber, spears and cyrus. (fuch me for stating that)
uuummmm. ROCK ALWAYS ROCKS AND AINT NOTHIN' GONNA CHANGE THAT.
The beginning of the music is cool.

With this track, I think they used some form of muted backing track that forms a harmonic 'spiralling descent' throughout both the verse and chorus.
