  • sam gillian and amber are the best put up more videos of all of them

  • Great dance!

  • Man, if I can ever dance like Samantha in this video, I would be decidedly pleased with myself! She is an incredible dancer, and I love the mystery she invokes, her style of dance and costuming--and yes, like us all, she is always evolving. I love the Turkish drops/ playing violin combo; you often see pelvic drops in tribal, but not quite like that. Very charming. I think she rocks!

  • The first song is Galamb Egydeül from Venetian Snares ;-)

  • very nice...

    very

  • what's with her and Asharah picking the same music? that's the main thing that annoys me with dancing. This girls dancing is really good but I can't get away from thinking about Asharah's performance to the same songs. There's so much music out there people!

  • They both preformed their dances to this music in the same month. My guess is that it was just what was new @ the time. I know that Samantha also dances to some music that was composed just for her. I personally like to see several different people dance to the same music. To me it shows all the different perspectives that one piece of music can be looked at from. :)

  • @tinashriller commenting on dancers using the same music is a bit ironic. the second song here is a remix of a billie holiday recording. she was one of many artists to perform/record this song, which was composed by a hungarian artist eight years before holiday recorded it.

musicians perform other musicians' songs just as dancers use the same music as other dancers. the only important thing is that your performance is uniquely yours, your own interpretation, different than the others.

  • I love how you can see so much individual difference in each dancer with tribal fusion. Sam has a real hip-hop, athletic influence which isn't always my cup of tea but she makes it so interesting to watch.

This is why fusion belly dance kicks ass- because it's such a personal expression.

  • Totally agree

  • thanks:)

  • i love how she makes simple beats and makes an elaborate dance out of it. it's great.

does anyone know what the song is called?

  • if your looking for the song just type in Ongyilkos Vasrnap...i dont know if thats spelled right...its a different version of the song Gloomy Sunday (the suicide song)

  • the second song is ongyilkos vasarnap... don't remember the name of the first song.. both songs are by venetian snares though... hope that helps :-)

  • The first is too of the same album of Ongylikos, by Venetian Snares. I can't remember the name, but if you obtains the album, you have it ;)

  • This has got to be some of the best dancing I've ever seen.... (and I'm a self-proclaimed dance snob... I admit it!) ....style, grace, control, and personality... magnificent to behold.

  • ya know,

One day Sam is gonna ask me to take this vid down. Not because of the brilliant comments made by huntrx9...but because her style and presentation of tribal fusion is ever changing. Just as any artist should be doing....evolving. I would say this performance is nothing like the way she dances at the moment....she has evolved from this moment in 2006. 3 years ago folks. she has more to offer now.

The vid is here for history's sake to see how far she has come...and how far she will go.

  • @bellyfringe ..

we are so sad about this :(

because this style she had is not worse, its more punctualy

    and soft..like a living snake..

    later she became bit modern..

  • uhm ye lol...Rachel is different and has a different style of her own and lol too for the fact that she is also part of the Bellydance Superstars like Rachel so please, take your comment somewhere else...

  • the way she moves is magical!

  • Love that act ! Thanks for sharing and thanks for the inspiration - wish me luck learning tribal fusion...argh.

  • OMG!!! This is a masterpiece! Sam rules.

  • this is soo sick.

    wow.

  • It's very simple but I love the move she does at 2 :30 it just fits perfectly with the music.

This was almost published 2 years ago which means Samantha had only been dancing for three years....that is absolutely awesome!

  • Ooo I see what you mean. It does look lovely

  • waaaaaaaa!!!!!

    hermoso!!!!!

    beautiful!!!

    just wonderful!!!!!!

  • jevitigre does not like arts, that's all. i agree with u, it's soo cool:) i was wathcing it for thousand times, one of my favorites- best is:2:30-2:40 it's like swimming, moving in water,it's so beautiful:) 2 parts of the move, once stop in that. ----- my other favorite: "Zoe tribal fest 7 solo" they are all perfect, just bit different (the Indigo. for eg: Sam is sporty, R.B. is snakey, sharon is egzotic)
  • How old is she?

  • Her musicality is unbelieveable

  • Beautiful smile. Nice to see.

  • Yeow! I love this dance, everything she does is perfect; the choreography, the outfit, the attitude. And to follow the conversation thread, I think she has her own unique style. I'm sure to some people all TF dancers look the same though.

  • And, the songs are by Venetian Snares, the second one is like, Ongynos Varsanarp and I don't know the name of the first, but its by Venetian Snares as well

  • To be clear, I don't think all TF is RB and the indigo... maybe I am wrong, but I meant to say I thought that RB coined the phrase tribal fusion. Could be wrong though. Sorry, I hate it when people say things for certain that they don't know for certain, and I don't want to start a huge youtube comment debate.

I think the important thing here is that everyone is in agreement that A) Sam rocks and B) she's got her own thing goin' on

  • I agree with Sam rockin' and having her own thing going on, but on origins, there were troupes like Ultra Gypsy doing incredibly innovative things with bellydance long before the lovely Indigo came along. People see something for the first time and think it was created by that person....depends on your exposure. The fact that it is 'fusion' means we can all keep expanding and discovering and developing our own styles...that's what's so cool about it!

  • I like this a lot I don´t know if you have seen the same choreography at "Tribal Fusions" the dvd of the bellydance superstars I like the dvd a lot.

  • Yep, it's the same one!

  • what's the name of that song?

  • what's the name of that song?

  • The second song is A Remix Of Gloomy Sunday by Billie Holiday

  • whoooo caaaaares? she is a gorgeous dancer. the only 'clone' action i see online in TF/GTF, is so many dancers using the same music. saving grace, is that their interpretations are all wildly and wonderfully different. (me, i am pondering Ravel's "Bolero", but i don't think i can go for 20 mins straight!)

  • i love how unique her flow is she always takes it in a direction i don't expect and switches which layer of the music she hits and follows, which as a musician i really appreciate. X kt

  • Whaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!!! "So wanna be indigo"? RB clon? I honestly think she has her own wicked take on TF. Even though I love them, not all TF belly dance is about RB and the Indigo. It's really sad that many people think it is. If anything TF began with Jill Parker and Ultra Gypsy, nuff said.

When I saw SH on the TF DVD I decided I had a new favorite dancer. She won me over with that wicked look and her style. I can't get enough Sam! Sam is awesome!

  • amen to that swingbikechick!

  • The genre of TF was pretty much created by RB, and her aesthetic is heavily influenced by Mardi... so all TF is going to look a bit like RB and the indigo. We all have influences we borrow from. That being said, I think Sam definitely has a unique style that is just beginning to really blossom. We all start off idolizing the greats, and then picking and choosing elements to become a unique dancer. I think Sam credits her sources appropriately and isnt a copycat at all.

  • We all have to start somewhere, I havent been dancing long, and was fortunate to train with Rachel, and then work alongside the Indigo touring with BDSS. Its hard not to be influenced by such incredible dancers, I am trying to grow and evolve on my own..this video is soooo old in terms of my dancing and style, I feel it takes time for 'young' dancers to create their own style, and move away from their teachers. Thanks for the comments.

  • Just so ya know, I think Sam has a very distinct style that is all her own. I think people are constantly ready to compare new dancers with dancers that are already well known, and not give credit where it is due. If you look at a clip of any good tribal dancer on youtube, I'm sure you will find one or more comments saying how they look like Rachel Brice, or Zoe Jakes, ect. It's stupid. Tribal fusion is tribal fusion, it's going to look similar, considering that it is, made up of the same moves.

  • You are great!! I do think you look different and your style is different too. I disagree with triballover22 and AlesaDreams..You do not look like Rachel Brice at all!

  • Sam, I think you are an awesome dancer, I love Rachel Brice too, but I think that there is just tribal fusion and different dancers with different styles, just like Egyptian. Man there are only so many moves in BD, but there are no duplicates, You created your own style when you started dancing

  • oh pretty u dont even have to explain!! we all know it we all get it! we all love you! people that dont know enough about something tends to say things that don't make sense at all! u rock! love the hands!! amazing choreo! amazing performance... love always

  • Great!!!

    kisses from Brazil

    Fox

  • Samantha Hasthorpe is my idol!!! she is really pretty and sooo amazing, she just has this way of capturing your attention and keeping you wanting to see more dancing! i wish i could be as good as her, i hope i get the chance to see her perform again one day

  • video does not do this woman justice- she has such a strong presence. My jaw was on the floor throughout her entire performance at the Crane Lane in Cork. What a fox!

  • Quiero bailar así!!! pero la música mucho no me convence...

  • Fantastic! Someone please tell me that Sam will be performing at Raqs Britannia.

  • hey! Yes I will be at Raqs B again in 2008, see yous there!

Thanks for the comments, really appreciate em. x

  • Hurrah!

  • I am 100% officially blown away! WOW!!! I'll close my mouth now! (after I watch this about 10 more times!)

  • Love when she walks off at the end!

  • Love the attitude when she walks off at the end!

  • WOW!!! sammy sam ish dah hawttest!!!! this just rocks my face!

  • what is the first song ?

  • Also Venetian Snares it is from the same album.

  • They're both from the Venetian Snares album "Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett." The first song is Galamb Egyedul, and the second is Ongyilkos Vasarnap. The creepy thing about the second song is that it's part of an urban legend, which claims the melody and lyrics lead to suicide.

  • This is so beautiful! I love how some of the movements are incredibly fluid and others stop and start -like all the individual muscles are "clicking" into place. She reminds me of an Edward Gorey girl :)

The music and outfit are fabulous.

  • Get it girl, I never get tired of watching this, the choreography is awsome!

  • oh nevermind! still though, i love this video so much. it's perfect

  • thats soo sweet. whast the name of this song?

  • Thanks for the music info. You are a great dancer! How long have you been dancing? Something keeps pullin me to tribal fusion instead of Modern Egyptian.

  • Amazing! Definitely up there with The Indigo/BDSS

  • secret is out!!!

  • Venetian Snares

  • Wow! Info on the music anyone?

  • you're arms are liquid.

  • Interesting style, like nothing I've ever seen before. I just recently danced to that song too and it's cool to see someone do something so different. I like very much, very funky, not to mention your crazy awesome locks and isolations, jeez girl!

  • man! i love what you did with this song too.

  • WOoOW!You totally Rock girl!

  • hours and hours of practise i bet it take to do such thing, i love her!

  • Wow wow!! Before we know it, The Indigo is gonna snatch Sam up, yo!! Super awesome!!

    xoxo

  • That is one badass chickadee right there. I loved when she played out the violin. Great work

  • You are awsome! What style of Tribal is this? I do modern Egyptian, and I want to learn tribal. You are a great dancer, very talented, and you interpret music very well. WOW.

  • This is Tribal Fusion :)

  • That is a fantastic video! Bravo! You can work gurl.
