seems pretty troubling, doesn't seems to be necessary to do in rework. what does it do? gives you ability to apply paste on solder balls without touching the chip surface?

just wondered how risky is it when moving stencil away from bga chip that the solder paste could cause shorts they look so close together with additional heat on reflow does this center align the solder balls?
