been there, done that haha. i got lucky and hooked my meaty part of my hand so i was able to push it on through and cut the end off and then pull it back through. There are alot of situations where anticipation is worse then the pain itself haha.

My wife hooked a gal once (she was passing to close) with a #1 eagleclaw. Poor girl was screaming and finally I sat on her with the help of my wife I to pushed it through and cut the barbed end and pulled it out. Dang! The old Lady was in tears and the girl poor things. But the girl said she'd never pass to close to fisher anymore.

your supposed to push it through then cut the barb off instead of pulling it out because pulling it out does more damage..

@haha48 I 100% agree. BUT would you have me push it thru the bone of his thumb? The point was right against the thumb bone. The barb however was just under the skin, so, it was alot less pain to pop it out than to force it all the way thru his finger, pushing hard, cut the hook and push it thru. I've done this MANY times. Each hook has to be checked for the easiest removal. Thanks for the comment!!!

I will admit that after getting my first and only barbed hook removed, that I went completely barbless. Mashed all the barbs down. You better get your tetnis shot updated. Fish can carry nasty bacteria too.

Dang Man i know that doesnt feel good at all. I had a popper come unstuck off a stump and catch me in the leg. My dad tugged but couldnt get it out haha so the emergency room got it out. I also had another incident where a spinnerbait hook hooked that tender area under the kneecap on the bottomside of my leg. That one felt awesome pulling it out hahahaha

@hogdude1234 Yeah I have, this one was just not good for that, the pliers were easier. Pushing down on the hook when you use the line hurts almost as bad as pulling it!!!

I was fishing with my best friend and he got a size 8 circle hook completely through his pinky and into his index finger. Luckily I've never been hooked bad.

yup....I did that a few years back while fishing in Canada....had to push it through the other end, cut the barb off, then pulled out easy. Pushing it through sucked but I numbed it shortly after with plenty of Molson's......lol

@TheCatfishHunters I did a tricept that the barb was inside and the point curved thru. Cut the hook at the shank and forced it thru like you said, gotta do that slow tho, just slips if you do it fast.
