Well the shit passes through the sewage which is the drainage which eventually joins a sea and sea joins the ocean. At least this is how my shit passes everyday in Bombay. Not sure about the Yamuna.

In Bombay we get water from lakes i.e. Vihar lake and also Tulsi Lake. The lake is safeguarded by the IFS as it is part of the forest. So I am pretty sure they would even try and shoot down a bird if it shat in the Lake :P . And the water is desalinated which also includes purification to some extent

Manure from farm animals can be a sustainable source of methane gas and it can indeed be used to create other energy, for cooking, for operating machinery, etc. Entire energy plants are being developed, run by gobar. I've wondered about this in US, as so much excess clean water is wasted in most toilets. Flushing technology needs improvement. A part II showing the reality, pointing out realistic solutions and what citizens can do would be great.
