Oh sweet memories... Oakies hitting the notes!... that's Oak Cliff, Dallas Texas... land of legendary music... in case you weren't there and missed stuff like this... best years of my life!
I like SRV and Lou ann Barton together or on their own. I had L.A.B's album with Finger Poppin Time which I played a whole lot - long gone and can't remember the name of it. The only thing I miss on this is the harp - everything else is great, tho' - just SRV's thing.
@JuniorBlues101, ya it's great guitar from SRV on this! You probably know this, but it's a Slim Harpo tune called "Scratch My Back", & the guitar lines are pretty faithful to the original record which came out in '66 on Excello Records. Excello Records was known for it's Louisiana "swamp blues" sound. John Fogerty from CCR was hugely influenced by these records, you can even hear a John Fogerty type lead from SRV on this song. The chicen pickin' was also on the original Slim Harpo record.
I have a CD which was recorded in Austin 1977 which has this track on. Its Lou Ann Barton with Rockola and Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV is on tracks 8-17) called SUGAR COATED LOVE is that the cd that you mean?
Crickettttt, I asked you somewhere else, if these songs are from a recording with Lou Ann Barton. Now i am sure. I used to have the whole concert on cd until someone broke into my car and stole the cd!!! That is some bootleg!! thanks

Interesting version. Quite a bit more laid back than the TBirds version. Almost sounds like the pre '65 Stones. Very cool.

what album is this from?
blueslover102 4 years ago
It was a bootleg, the one i have is called "Nashville 1978"
it was recorded in nashville obviously, in a small studio in jack clements mansion. Joe Gracy was the producer.
the takes werent as good as the band hoped, so they payed a sum to make sure the album wasn't released.
this is a great slim harpo song by the way,Scratch my Back", the T-birds did a great version with Jimmie Vaughan doing some funky guitar work.
