  • Great funky guitar sound, great playing & vibe. Increases my respect for SRV & crew.

Was he playing on # 1 or some other Strat?

    Anyone know?

  • Hayes Carl~ Chickens in the front yard, what they do is scratch and peck.........now i know where he got from.

  • Interesting version. Quite a bit more laid back than the TBirds version. Almost sounds like the pre '65 Stones. Very cool.

  • Wow, this song is amazing, thanks Cricketttt for posting.

  • NOW THIS IS THE BEST STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN , LOU ANN BARTON & JIMMIE VAUGHAN ALL IN ONE HOW MUCH LOVE !!!!! ♥♥♥♥

  • I just jizzed.

  • I like SRV and Lou ann Barton together or on their own. I had L.A.B's album with Finger Poppin Time which I played a whole lot - long gone and can't remember the name of it. The only thing I miss on this is the harp - everything else is great, tho' - just SRV's thing.

  • @slideharp1 old enough, still available at waterloo.. and well worth 10 bucks!

  • @TheHeliumkid Thanx, like to hear that again.

  • I never tire of hearing this one! Love you always Stevie...

  • Thanks. Glad some of these old tapes survived.

  • Holy s*** Connie you SO have the best pictures of Stevie :-)

  • Her older stuff is incredible. hmm Maybe, just maybe, its the back up. ya think.

    very very nice, thanks!

  • love that when SRV scratches back on the guitar, thx crick

  • crickettttt has the 'GOLD' folks!

  • I lived in Austin '80 to '88.... brothers and sisters, it WAS all that...

  • WOW aint seev that before, thank you, keep it coming.

  • WOW!!! You can def hear some Jimmie Vaughan influence in his playing here. The hen peck sound is friggin' sweet!

  • Albert Collins influence on the hen pecking!

  • @JuniorBlues101, ya it's great guitar from SRV on this! You probably know this, but it's a Slim Harpo tune called "Scratch My Back", & the guitar lines are pretty faithful to the original record which came out in '66 on Excello Records. Excello Records was known for it's Louisiana "swamp blues" sound. John Fogerty from CCR was hugely influenced by these records, you can even hear a John Fogerty type lead from SRV on this song. The chicen pickin' was also on the original Slim Harpo record.

  • Just looked on ebay there are two CDs one called Sugar Coated Love and one called Thunderbroad, think they might be the same CD?

  • no, cricket

  • I have a CD which was recorded in Austin 1977 which has this track on. Its Lou Ann Barton with Rockola and Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV is on tracks 8-17) called SUGAR COATED LOVE is that the cd that you mean?

  • i thought i was a big stevie fan, i never heard of this. great stuff thanx

  • Once again, great stuff, crickettttt. These unpublished versions are stunning. Keep 'em coming.

  • i have this album.

  • It was a bootleg, the one i have is called "Nashville 1978"

it was recorded in nashville obviously, in a small studio in jack clements mansion. Joe Gracy was the producer.

the takes werent as good as the band hoped, so they payed a sum to make sure the album wasn't released.

this is a great slim harpo song by the way,Scratch my Back", the T-birds did a great version with Jimmie Vaughan doing some funky guitar work.

  • cool...thanks!

  • What a cool song,I'd like to hear more of Stevie and Lou Ann, did they make any cd's from their time together?

  • they did record in 78-79 but it was suppose to have been trashed... i am sure there is some stuff out there its just scarce.

  • Crickettttt, I asked you somewhere else, if these songs are from a recording with Lou Ann Barton. Now i am sure. I used to have the whole concert on cd until someone broke into my car and stole the cd!!! That is some bootleg!! thanks

  • That was fantastic! Did you catch Austin City Limits tast night?

  • great post. Whats the name of the song?

  • scratch my back
