That pleco is HUGE. I was thinking last night about how I'm getting a 55gal fish tank for my 2 fancy goldfish... GOD if I got a pleco and it grew that big I would be afraid to clean the tank. And the poo must be huge.I keep my tanks in my room so... it'd be like living in a horror movie for me. I love huge fish, but they scare me.
Mine isa couple of months old .. how long do they live andhow long ...before i have to change the size of my tank ... i think i'll pass it to my neighbours pond when it grows big :)
@MELVENWONG89 i think they grow two to three years and the life expectancy is approximately twenty years. I see that you are living in Malaysia - i think it's no problem to put him outside in your neighbours pond ;-)
If only I could get a video of my pleco. As soon as I go near the tank he shoots back to his hiding place and refuses to come out until I'm well away from the tank and the lights are out.
Plecos do not need big tanks, because they do not really like to move. In nature they prefer a place where they can hide and are just moving to eat something. so the size does not really mater. I would say: minimum 200 liters. Plecos also dont like other big Plecos, but you can combine a really small one with an big. they love cucumber! greetings from Vienna, Austria (not australia ;-)
