  • instead of hula hoops, I'm guessing you can use flexible irrigation pipe. The electrical tape probably fall off once it touches water, use hot glue or silicone.

  • my off the shelf pool cover costs more than 500$

  • i hav that exact same soldering iron

  • aren't lily pads green?

  • @OscarTechno you clearly didnt get the point

  • not many people own a pool so this wasn't much

  • no top comment.. umm, ummm, thats bad for frogs cuz it will be to hot!

  • how does it warm it?

  • @yognut72 the color black soaks up heat. it stores the heat for a certain amount of time

  • @yognut72 Those ¨lily pads¨ have a black color. And black color dousn't absorb the heat from the sun as the color white do. So the warm sunlight bounces around in the pool leaving its heat.

  • @mightylittleones

You just made me dumber for reading that.

  • Hyper Rape.

  • litraly do any girls watch this?

  • i made this... then I remembered, I DON'T HAVE A POOL!

  • @xXHydroDragonXx shame

  • @karltorres2 HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA yeah xDD

  • man my 666th video i watched of makemagazine

  • @riotmonster666 WTF? You actually counted? And watched THAT MANY? Lmfao!!

  • @riotmonster666 dude im watchin reruns

  • Comment removed

  • ahh i live in a tall building and can't do that with our enermous very cold swimming pool *^*

  • @dhilancowboys The black plastic absorbs ALL of the light from the sun and becomes warmer. It's floating on the water so through conductive heating the top surface of the water becomes warmer. The water circulates and heats up the whole pool.

  • Comment removed

  • @kutekitten6 And your point about 0:20 is?

  • @dhilancowboys The black membrane thingy heats up faster because black doesnt bounce of light but suck it so it gets hot and heats the pool :D

  • yeah making my video snow boo ya

  • Do all americans live in a paradise?

  • @TheShetch not me

  • @TheShetch Nope. :/ I wish I had a pool like his.. Hell, I wish I lived in a house.

  • @TheShetch not everyone..like me.i live in a horrible apartment with some of the worst neighbors.

  • @TheShetch NOPE

  • i dont get the concept of how it warms up the pool...can someone explain?

  • @angelkaywinn4210 Its like when you have a black shirt on a bright day, black obsorbs light and and so it get hot, and the color white reflects so when you have a lot of stuff black in your pool its obsorbing the light and so it heating the pool because it gets so hot, did this help?

  • @GamingFTW12 yes thank you :)

  • if i was rich...

  • Or just paint my pool black...

  • @Albanez39 totally!

  • why not use hot glue? should be easier... :-/

  • @rmachinegun then use hot glue

  • awww.... i don't have a pool

  • boreing

  • @TheJoshfrey shut up

  • i dont even own a pool haha :D

  • so im gonna buy all that stuff....... destroy my soldering iron and make that "thing" like 20 times when i can just buy some pvc pipe and use the sheet with out wasting it or cutting it and keep the rectangle shape so i can roll it up and covers the same amout of pool space...........this guy is smart?

  • who wears sun glasses while swimming

  • @mumin728 kipkay

  • don't you mean solder i've never heard of the term sodder before.

  • @trance481415 Really?

  • This looks like garbage floating around in your pool.

  • Theres no 3:12 in the video. O_o

  • damn making videos in youtube looks like a good way to earn you living o.0

  • They kinda don't look like lily pads but i guess it still makes your pool warm... right? Maybe you should use dark green film or something? Or decorate it with a rubber water lilly? lol

  • Would have been easier to by a solar blanket and cut to fit. 10 mins time tops to unfold and cut to fit. and would last for 2-3 years.

  • Can I connect hoola. Hoops and make bigger ones that cover a good portion of the pool

  • so your basically covering the pool in polyethylene film.... so u jus doh cover d whole pool in like 2 too 3 larger pieces? ite less work an u cud make to fold up 4 easy storage when you are using the pool!

  • get the f outta here :))))

  • wtf r u serious. i dont want a thousand of these things in my pool. you know how much of a head fuck that would be. y wouldnt you just but a bunch of pvc piping with 4 90' angles and make a fuck huge one, the u only have to take one out instead of how ever many you make

  • is that cape coral?

  • you should learn how to say soldering iron befor yu make any more vids and make yourself sounds stupid.

  • @earnham47 troll

  • @JakeLeonard123 yeaaaaahhhh nah mate.

  • @earnham4 Fuck off, at least he has the initiative to start a youtube channel.

  • @earnham47 grow up.

  • @earnham47 In America the "L" in "Solder" isn't pronounced. It's stupid, but that's how Americans pronounce it.

  • @earnham47 make yourself sounds stupid ? Why don't YOU learn how to say stuff, because at the moment, your making yourself SOUND stupid !

  • @earnham47 You should go finish high school and stop being such a fucking statistic.

  • @iRant4u

mate, i finished school 3 years ago.

so maybe you should stop get off youtube and do something with your life!

  • @earnham47 Still can't use grammar I see. I am currently in school with a 5.0+ weighted GPA. Maybe you should stop criticizing people to make yourself feel better, when it's pretty obvious you made a YouTube account to post comments.

  • p vs z pool level

  • skinny dipping

  • NO TOP COMMENT TIME FOR ME TO SHINE ...........POOP

  • @initialttb Ha your an idiot. no Thumbs up on kipkay vids!

  • @initialttb haha there is no top comment because comments can't be thumbsed up

  • Man Kip you must be loaded! :)

  • @MacDaddy635 no kidding

  • i have the same soldering iron

  • how does its warm up ur pool? O.o

  • @8986899 black absorbs the heat so the lily pad warms the pool by floating on it.

  • u'd better sink all the black film at the bottom

  • thumbs up if you don't have a youtube account :)

  • @alpinemanlover How did you leave a comment then?

  • @ScandinaviansAreCool I have a youtube account DUH :p

  • Todays weekend project - ?

  • thumbs up if you can't thumbs up

  • here in Trinidad we don't need pool warmers lmao.

  • If you have enough money to own a pool, I don't think it's necessary to have a homemade pool warming system.

  • @tomizzo11 Au contraire, good sir. Here in the NT of Australia nearly all houses have a pool or at least a spa. Although I am not sure about the other states and territories, I do believe they have polls as standard as well and it can get a lot colder there as well.

  • polyethylene is not a very good conductor of heat. It's cheap though, and it's probably efficient enough for simply warming a pool.

  • if he put some aluminum foil to the bottom of the lilly pad pool warmer the reflected light from the bottom of the pool will be re-reflected back to the ground -> more effect! ^^

  • not to mean but um how doest that make heat

  • @nerfkid22

it's much like a solar cover, but probably much less tedious to put into the pull. less effective too, but basically, since black is the combination of all light energy, it absorbs a lot of light from the sun, which in turn makes it heat up. the heat is transferred from the pad to the pool's cooler water, since all heat transfers to cooler materials. over time, if used consistently, the pool will slowly get warmer

  • @nerfkid22 it doesnt make heat it absorbs heat

  • easy solution:

    Live in Florida

  • @talli0799 Yes great! moving to Florida is so much cheaper then a pool wamer! *sarcasm*

  • @TheBigBoyMen lol

  • Can you explain how this worms the pool please? sorry i know nothing about science accept the sun revolves around the earth.

  • @misue2, black objects have the abilety to pull heat to it self, and the heat from those "things" will be warm enough to heat up the pool.

p.s. sorry for bad inglish, i'm dutch.

  • @misue2 black obsorbs more heat than white (dark obsorbs more than light) the pool warmers in this film were black and thick (ish) so they obsorbed heat from the sun and transfered it to the water undernieth it, on a really hot day the plastic acan get so hot it will get soft, it would be somewhat effective

  • Nice... but willl it blend?

  • Only 1 question: Why would I?

  • @TheSpeclord

2nd question: Where do you get the impression i'm a man?

  • @FilmpjesVanDeFlip im not part of the convo, but women arent on the internet end of story

  • @puppystomper324

    3rd question: Well... they are.

And I wish you the best of luck with this project.

  • @FilmpjesVanDeFlip lol it was a joke

  • Did he keep saying "soddering iron"?

  • i see. but why do you need to warm your pool?

  • i painted mine green and cut a triangle out of it :D

  • am i the only one who noticed he went underwater with his sunglass on?

  • Couldn't you just use hot glue instead of paying for a soldering iron

  • @Nield118 solder-stuff conducts, hot glue doesn't

  • @shadow1the1ultimate good point i just thought it was there to connect the two and nothing else

  • I bet 60% of the people that watched this video don't own a pool

  • it froze...

  • an inexpensive "soddering" iron!! lol

  • @rix077 Huh? He said "soldering" right...

  • Pee in ur pool for a better and faster result lol

  • goddamn i want a pool now shit!!

  • yep

  • WTF is this

  • I dont have a pool why did I watch this :(

  • @XxbufferingsxksxX me too =(

  • @12digimonmaster75 me too =(

  • @Partyboy10210 you got dat right

  • or get some hula hoops and a shit load of electrical tape lol

  • i think he should use bigger scissors.

  • Why don't you jest get a rolling cover?

It would be a lot easier

  • Why dont you just cover the whole pool with a big piece pol. film????

  • just pee in the water

  • can i use nipple clamps?

  • i dont even have a pool i just looked this up because Kipkay is awesome

  • @boblkl same here

  • nice house

  • Wait how does it make the pool warmer?

  • @OurLivesAreCrazy now u see what i have been thinking about

  • @OurLivesAreCrazy The plastic gets the sun's heat and gets warmer and since its touching the water its heating the water. :)

  • grab ur cat, put him on one, and send him out to sea

  • Who hears the pool pump in the background at the beginning of the video?

  • LOL he went in the water with his glasses on :D

  • @angusdavidson15 i do that all the time... nothing wrong with it.. tho i dont use sunglasses they are my actual glasses

  • @usa1327 me too

  • kipkay got a pool.. O_O

  • Cool

  • I think it will be much better if you paint you pool's flooring black.

  • @odca06 that would look kind of weird......

  • kipkay can i use hot glue instead of solder

    please answer

  • guy at the end sounds like kermit frog :) and its a lily pad pool warmer :)

  • oh how my family has learned how far from water tight that joint is -_-

  • wow what a house man:) awesome

  • @kamden1980

That's only true for subtracting colors when light is reflected, ie paint (and technically, it's magenta, yellow, and cyan). For light, though, the primary colors are red, green, and blue. Red light+green light=yellow light, red+blue=magenta, blue+green=cyan.

  • As a former pool care tech:

this will create a warmer temperature in your pool, ideal for algae growth. so you will need to stay on top of your pool water chemistry, as well as your pools filtering time.

  • i have that same soldering iron. its actually pretty good.

  • you guys arent very smart yellow is i primary coulour... i think... im only 11

  • @ThebisonTV that explains why u spelled colour wrong or in america color

  • 401 th comet

  • pause at 0:22 seconds

  • y not just stretch the black sheet across the pool and make it somehow float on the water? then take it off when u go swimming

  • why don't you just paint the bottom of the pool black?

  • how do they heat da pool

  • @patsrule12345 Black attracts more heat.

  • @patsrule12345 black is atractive to the sun

  • Strange facts: Kipkay was born without nipples and a belly button. They are tattoos.

  • @MAN1234513 How do you not know, call your fifth grade teacher and tell him/her why they didn't teach you the color black absorbs light and turns it into heat.

  • Nice. Now I only have to get a pool. And a big house.
