Get a wine glass of water and two fariley light coins.....then fill hlass with water and place clinge film over the top....then place the coims on top....this will cause the coins to stay ontop of the glass and not sink....ericsurf6rocksssssssss totallyyy x

I think it floats because the water is more dense just like forgot his name theory, which this guys add more silver then gold to make the crown weigh as much as the gold nugget so more water comes out.You either add somethings to the water to make it more dense or its the coin

Aluminum is really light, but still denser than water, by archimedes theory, the coin will still sink. The reason why it can float is that the force of gravity on the the tiny aluminum mass is not enough to break the surface tension of water. So if you poke the coin slowly and help the coin overcome the surface tension and cause it to sink. This trick has nothing to do with water displacing.

We did this in biology class a few years back (don't ask why we did it in bio, I don't know myself.)

Its called Surface tension. We managed to balance a penny on water (after several times, of course). picture the top of the water like a saran wrap kinda deal, only its unfathomably delicate. The goal is to rest the penny on the top of the water without breaking the surface tension.

That, or he's just using some fake, floating coins :D
