@pandel69 HP or Asus (preferably asus) have some great offerings. Look for something more basic like a core i3 rather than the pricier i7. If all you're doing is movie watching and web surfing then it should be perfect.

I will take a look at that thank you. PC's aren't bad but in my opinion the whole Apple package just has a better design and environment
when working in IT the only issues i have ever really noticed with vista is the memory usage(this issue was optimized in windows 7), and honestly that was never a huge deal. Most problems outside that had to do with old 32bit drivers. This is the fault of the hardware manufacturer. As for Shell script's, its vary basic scripting language (functions like DOS's Batch files) that can be used to simplify or automate vary complex commands. Its also easy to add a GUI to the script.

The limited flexibility of the apple mac laptop or desktop is its downfall. its and its not the best for multi tasking graphic design or Cad products. speaking through experience of my own.
