thanks for posting this tutorial. It would be great, if you can give me some more detailed information about this workflow. How do I export more cinemaDNG? Export in one composition or more?
why would you ever change anything into a QuickTime file format because of the bad rendering times and the less than stellar image format you get on the back end..
@SquirrelFromGradLife You're right, in this video basically I was explaining that it would be easier to do your offline edit in quicktime files because CinemaDNG files are too huge to be able to playback in FCP or Avid, etc. Then after you've finished your cut, refer back to the cinemaDNG files.
Are you saying that you can only do best-light (first light), and that you can not do scene-by-scene? How about if you break all the footage up into blocks?
@famousPhotog At the moment you have a lot of control over the image with the Camera Raw Window. So I always do my best light then if I've got the time. If you clicked the first frame of your DNG sequence during import, you have the first frame of your scene/clip for grading. If that doesn't help you, you can open a frame you want in photoshop, create a template grade then apply that afterwards. I've been trying with the Davinci Resolve L because it has DNG support but it still has some issues.
sorry for my english, i try ... you said : if you don't have after effect (or premiere) there is an other solution to change dng files in quictime files ... download free in adobe lab's website . i will go and i try all pages, downloads etc during afternoon ... and there is only plugin for after effects and premiere ... I saw the software on your video, i will go one night in severals forums etc ... and i no found any informations ? Can you help me ? I have fcp . Thank you so much.
I can give You a TIP, If you want to do first light and lets say, You have clapper board in You're first frame, then open not the first frame in photoshop, do the "first light" with camera raw and save settings, and then just open AE and click load settings or apply preset.
@DriveByProdu Ah yes you bring up a great point. I should've explained this better. In After Effects you can export multiple compositions one after the other in Render Queue. I only exported one in this video however what is possible is to keep loading clips into the Render Queue then export the clips in one batch.
The reason I have kept the project color depth in 8bpc was because the quicktime I exported isn't intended for the final product. They are like proxy files for doing an offline.

@DriveByProdu Yes what you say is true, i was pointing out that it was a shame that is not capable in the camera raw process.

Why didn't You crop it AE, setting the composition settings to HDTV 25fps ?
How did You Bach, Yo still need to do it one by one, with camera raw? You can only batch export!
ON dng importer it is one by on to export!
why did You left project color depth to 8bpc, ikonoskop has 12BIT.
This video was not really useful, sorry!
