i saw Conor live... it took the band crew 15 min to setup the instruments and mikes on the stage. the an additional 45 minto place so many bottles of liquor all over the stage....like EVERYWHERE! and Conor was beyond drunk when he got on the stage, and the band only got through a few songs. it was sad because i was hoping for a wonderful performance by one of my most respected musicians, but i understand depression and addiction changes people. i love you Conor!

just looking at this youtube page, full of conor, i can't help but cry. i'm glad that i've been blessed with the opportunity to live while he is living. i still have that very little chance of meeting him, and i'll never give up on hope. conor has made music go to the next level, and i'm not even sure what the proper word for that next level is. i think that if everyone on this planet listened to bright eyes, we would finally, finally live in peace.
Conor Oberst is an alcoholic. Or used to be at least, I haven't followed up on him much in the last few years. I saw him live four years ago, he apologized for being drunk out of his skull, stumbled and forgot the words half way through "Lover I Don't Have to Love," messed up many a song he sang. It was still a wonderful show. I guess it's a little sad, but mostly it just made me fall in love with him all the more. It makes him, him. Such a beautiful, lost and found little creature.
I adore Conor Oberst, he's brilliant. But there is no such thing as "used to be" when it comes to alcoholism, once you're an alcoholic you will always be one. You can quit drinking all together, and be a recovering alcoholic, but no matter what you're still an alcoholic, there is no possible way you'll be able to socially drink. I should know.
@xxTheCatsMeow Well you clearly don't know, and that is all AA bullshit, I know several people who use to be alcoholics and have recovered after being in AA they where told to give their life to a higher power (LOL) and it was out of their control, and if you are taught that, then yes you will NEVER recover. The people who have recovered are people who took responsibility for their actions and combine that with some will power and there you have it.

Some Catholics who are strict and kinda deserve pitty because they are so strait minded and dont let themselfs accept the outer world, not just catholics other religions too, but as I was saying Some people are so strict that they beleive god will save them. just looking at this youtube page, full of conor, i can't help but cry. i'm glad that i've been blessed with the opportunity to live while he is living. i still have that very little chance of meeting him, and i'll never give up on hope. conor has made music go to the next level, and i'm not even sure what the proper word for that next level is. i think that if everyone on this planet listened to bright eyes, we would finally, finally live in peace.

Conor Oberst is an alcoholic. Or used to be at least, I haven't followed up on him much in the last few years. I saw him live four years ago, he apologized for being drunk out of his skull, stumbled and forgot the words half way through "Lover I Don't Have to Love," messed up many a song he sang. It was still a wonderful show. I guess it's a little sad, but mostly it just made me fall in love with him all the more. It makes him, him. Such a beautiful, lost and found little creature.

I adore Conor Oberst, he's brilliant. But there is no such thing as "used to be" when it comes to alcoholism, once you're an alcoholic you will always be one. You can quit drinking all together, and be a recovering alcoholic, but no matter what you're still an alcoholic, there is no possible way you'll be able to socially drink. I should know.

@xxTheCatsMeow Well you clearly don't know, and that is all AA bullshit, I know several people who use to be alcoholics and have recovered after being in AA they where told to give their life to a higher power (LOL) and it was out of their control, and if you are taught that, then yes you will NEVER recover. The people who have recovered are people who took responsibility for their actions and combine that with some will power and there you have it.

@xxTheCatsMeow Sorry I did not mean to put that across so arrogantly, I just have a real problem with AA I know it can help people but it also tells them to accept being powerless to helping themselves which I think is wrong. I also think it has to do with the type of person, because I know several people that have overcome being an alcoholic and come out the other side able to socially drink, just as I know some people not able to drink again there are always exceptions to the rules.
