@bachterman NES has a hardware limit of 4 sprites on the same horizontal line. After that it will simply stop drawing sprites on that line. So programmers made the games cycle through the sprites so that they flicker instead of risking the possibility that some objects would be totally invisible. This approach is typical on NES games with many sprites.

@Gurra88 This is easiest of all Gradius games for some reason Konami didn't make it as hard as the Arcade original is the same can be said for Gradius 2 when ported to the NES or Gradius 3 when ported to the SNES.Try the Arcade Gradius 3 it will make you want to kill yourself because its soo fucking hard.

But Gradius Collection would be perfect it contains Original Arcade Gradius 1-4 and Ps1 Gradius Gaiden and it has save states its for the PSP but you can get it from PSN if not in stores.
