  • The largest welfare program and redistribution of wealth in America which has been going on since Reagan is CORPORATE WELFARE.EVERY year hundreds of billions of middle class tax dollars have been handed out to large corporations in the form of special exemptions, deduction, incentives & free services. Corporate executives WRITE OFF their three martini lunches & staff meetings at strip clubs. I saw it when I worked for the sixth largest US corp that paid NO TAX AT ALL in the last 4 oout of 5 yrs.

  • @exenrontexas Absolutely, that is why you have to be against redistribution of wealth in principle. Are you?

  • @janhelfeld NO, since it is the WILL OF THE PEOPLE and the Constitution supports it AND it is a important principle of GOD. The Constitution gives power over the government to the PEOPLE and the PEOPLE have chosen to have a graduated tax and to support social welfare programs. Furthermore it is WRONG for conservatives to characterize Social Security, Medicare and Veterans benefits as WELFARE since they are EARNED and PAID FOR. The GOP has been raiding those funds for years.

  • @exenrontexas And the CORPORATE WELFARE programs are done in secret without the PEOPLE's knowledge or consent. One example of the high cost of free services for large corporations is the BUSH war in Afghanistan. In '97 the Executives at ENRON CORP met in Houston with the Taliban to negotiate the Trans Afghan pipeline. The representatives of the TX governors office attended. The deal fell through and immediately after the ENRON BOD began talking about regime change in Afghanistan.

  • That guy actually seems quite reasonable.

  • Should you build a house with rotten wood? no.

If you find that you have a rotten board in your house, should you immediately rip it out? You decide, but your house will fall down if you do.

Should you, at least, work to gradually implement ways to replace the rotten board with a new board, without destroying the house? Certainly, and that is this young man's stated approach.

This is NOT my perspective. But you must comprehend oppositional perspective, or your views are just religion.

  • The job of the government is to help provide opportunity not the out come.

  • those glasses do not allow me to take him seriously.

  • I am FOR the redistribution of wealth. Our current economic system already redistributes wealth from the poor to the rich via the concepts of "investments" that the rich can afford and increase in value while the poor take "loans" and have to pay more which gets redistributed to the rich. if the government helps redistribute the money BACK to the poor who were running the LABOR TO PRODUCE GOODS AND SERVICES than i am perfectly happy with this.

  • @greycloud24 - that's fine. you're a marxist then and have no concept of what made this country great - nor does it appear that you are a big fan of freedom as well. let me ask you this, once you remove the incentive for making money and your kill all innovation (which is what marxist pigs do), where do you suppose the poor will get there money from then?

  • innovation occurs weather profit is involved or not. eventually we will get to a point where almost all human labor is obsolete, what will the human race do then?

  • @greycloud24 Dude, I'm broke. Can I get some money?

  • @TreachMarkets I'm slightly more broke than you, so when you get your share, pass some on to me. ;)

  • @Philhelm Ok, will do. Don't forget to pass it on to the next person who's worse off than you even. Btw, where does it end? ;-)

  • Low rating because of sound quality

  • Nice shades.

Subtitles would do great in this video. Also, a little video editing can fix the audio, lazy man.

  • I LOVE when Jan sets the trap on "can you properly delegate a right you do not have?". The look on these people's faces when he asks that is so priceless, because they know they've been irreparably owned.

  • Wealth is created not spread. The government can only spread misery. Envy, jealousy and bitterness are self-destructive and will eventually destroy the nation. If you want something, go out and work for it. If you see someone in need, help them. Don't expect the government to take from others and give it to you. That makes you a crook.

  • Isnt this from John Galts speech? If your going to quote Galt give him or Rand credit.

  • I'm sure the dialogue was great but I can't hear it... Disappointing because Jan is usually great.

  • I cannot believe Scarborough shows his stupidity by dropping Adam Smith's name. Adam Smith was not for lassiez-faire capitalism. He though it was a terrible idea and beyond that he was not even a good economist. He either plagiarized from his teachers or made incorrect claims. Can we stop dropping Adam Smith's name? It makes Capitalist look stupid. Rothbard's "The Adam Smith Myth" explores this. But Joe shows his conservative stripes. God forbid we change quickly even if we do not agree with it.

  • How is it ok for a state government to steal but no the central government?

  • meh.... he's not too bad at least

  • jan, you might want insert captioning. you can barely hear your questions.

  • I second that. Way too much background noise.
