  • @Shade, from the chump forum:

"My Dad was driving the ZX2 that got taken out in that video. Its hard for me to be unbiased since the black Fiero's poor judgement cost us 2 hrs and a bent rear strut. Never heard from the Fiero driver."

Kind of hard to apologize if the team never hears from you...

  • @Shade - That was not due to a "hub failure". He drove in way too deep and didn't get back on the gas in time. The hub may have gotten broke as a result of the impact but that was driver error plain and simple.

  • The other problem is cars that are Supposedly "stock" running 2:39's at Sebring running over top of guys following the spirit of the rules. I've run sebring in a 911 race car and my monza. I know the track and that 300z should have been disqualified.

  • Bill, We got taken out at VIR on about lap 9 by a car turning in to apex when I was along side (General lee looking car) and once we did get back on track at 2 a.m. I took over at 4 a.m. and got door slammed by the jacki ikx mits in the middle of the esses!!! We run the 88 mr2 and talked with you at Sebring. We have already discussed the beatin and bangin going on in this series and it's a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt or killed. Sebring seemed to be cleaner.

  • Why do people insist on making excuses for those who drive beyond their limits? It was less than an hour into a 25 hour race - there is NO excuse for it and they didn't have the common decency to find the team they hit and apologize.

This is perfect example of snap oversteer - because snap oversteer is a myth. A technical sounding term created so that we don't call it what it is - lack of driver talent.

  • @otgrouch The wheel hub bearing broke right there, that's why it happened. Ask the team that drove the car, and they did apologize to the team.

OH AND JUST A BTW, THEY WON THE CHUMPCAR SPIRIT AWARD, for being THE NICEST TEAM AT THE RACE. so... they aren't bad guys at all.

P.S. The driver is 17, been racing since he was 15 and in case you didn't notice he was lapping all of you, so no need to over react b/c ur SLOW. :)

  • @Shade147 What I noticed was that he blew past us, then ran out of talent and took another team out due to his inabilities. 'lapping all of you', even if that was what he was doing, is meaningless 43 minutes into a 25 hour race unless you can keep doing it for another 24.25 hours.

Based on the comments of the ZX2 team on the Chump forum, I don't think you've got the story completely right.

  • @Shade147 I am not surprised the driver was 17.

  • Guys... that means everyone... Driving a mid-engine car like the Fiero and the MR2 is done a bit differently than other cars like front engine rear drive, or front wheel drive. The Fiero driver got caught out by going into the corner way too fast, hitting the brakes, then letting off the fuel. It happens a lot with new drivers in MR cars when they exceed their cars and the drivers limits. AKA snap over steer. Hopefully everyone learned lessons from this. No need for name calling please.

  • This is old news. Already posted and thoroughly discussed on the ChumpCar Forum. If the pros can lose it and crash, why can't the newbies? Oh, that's right... because YOU'RE perfect! Guys, get over it. Welcome to racing.

  • @ChumpChannel No! Don't get over it! The Google Ad money has to pay for our car rebuilds!! :)

  • Hey whats up I was with the team that had the Fiero in the race number 82 I was wondering If I could Have your permission to use this video clip in the personal racing documentary that I'm making for them. This wreck was a huge part of the race for us and Not one of our cameras captured it on tape.

  • My car was the one that got hit by that gentleman in the fiero

  • My Dad was driving our army green ZX2, would love to get a copy of the video. That douchebag put us out for 2 hrs with a bent strut

  • There are least 3 more instances like this in my first 2 hour stint. Once Bill gets time to watch and edit the entire video, highlights will be posted.

  • @otgrouch ya, I started last night, but fell asleep again with the laptop on my chest...
