  • watched a documentary on ian tyson who wrote four strong winds. said he wasn't all that thrilled for neil's rendition of the song, but when the royalty cheques came rolling in it actually paid for a ranch in alberta. i got the impression that ian felt as though if someone like neil covers one of your songs, you just go with it.

  • i love neil young so much !!!! he was also one of my dads favorites !!! RIP dad

  • my favorite song

  • I love this song sooooo much it was my dad's song. I have good memories of him singing it at all our parties and my Uncle Junior n Uncle Bertie on Guitar brilliant it was wen they got they're JAM on. This is dedicated to you dad love n miss you forever R.I.P 06:30am on 11th February 1940 - 2009 sadly missed by all who loved you

  • yep, I definately would have married this man!

  • I remember first hearing Johnny Cash singing this on his show around '68. I had my casette recorder and would hold the mic up to the tv to record the show and would send it to my father who was in VietNam at the time. Not long after he was hit and badly wounded.I never heard it again until " comes a Time" came out and couldn't believe it was on there.

  • not even close to the "best version" but still, this is the song neil used to listen when he was a kid, this song means a lot to him, pure canadian country.. perkele jenkit vittu meni jyrään ei ollu kipru hereil..

  • I am from Alberta and love it !!!

    Greetings from Alberta :)

  • loooooove neiiilllll!!!!

  • The best version ever

  • Old Shakey rightfully pays tribute to this song over the years. a true classic written by Canadian Ian Tyson, who also wrote Someday Soon which was a hit for Judy Collins. Ian's former partner and wife Sylvia Fricker wrote You Were On My Mind , a one hit wonder for We Five in 1965.

  • @paulramons

oh I love that song (you were on my mind)& I had forgotten all about it till you mentioned it there.

Thanks! That was such a cool folk song to let go,belt out loud singing with it,whether you sounded good or not! ; )

  • I've been to Montreal, British Columbia, but my trip to Alberta is easily a reason to write a song about, even if the song isn't directly about Aberta itself.

Any of the countryside around any city in Canada, has such beauty and wonder, it's easy to sit for hours and take it all in.

  • Camden? Even Americans don't go to Camden NJ!!! It should be plowed under!!

  • This song makes me want to go to Canada one day.

  • you should come. i live here and it is ana wesome place to live. was at this show, i love america but camden is not a place i would want to go to again. hope you enjoy your trip here someday

  • @JoTheSnoop I went to Canada once.....nice place, much cleaner than the United States, that's for sure.

  • @blood666fall yes and way less horny people
