Why didn't Ernie have Bert lift him? I wonder how heavy he would have been...especially compared to a piano, which is the heaviest thing in the world!
You know it would have been funny if this was like the Kermit and Grover one where Bert asked Ernie if he could do light and Ernie could do heavy and he,Bert would still have bad luck.
@moatguy Well, they have to expand their horizons somewhat. It would have been too obvious had they done that. Though there was an E&B sketch from the recent years concerning big and small where that did happen.
I think that's where Ric Flair got his passing out in the wrestling ring ideas, he saw how Bert fell over carrying heavy objects. It's funny to see poor Bert fall forward, and then backwards in destroying the piano!
when you lift heavy object, always use your leg, never use your back, because your back isn't strong, your leg is stronger, than your back, a safe lifting is easy, If you can't do it safely, don't do it.
Yes, in the past I also thought that it sounded like he said that but, some people in the past corrected me telling me that he actually said "I should, I should have known." They also told me that he was stuttering and out of breath which is the reason why it sounded like he said a bad word here.
Yes, as Bert was saying "I should, I should have known" Ernie was talking a little too loud saying "bring it in." (I guess with Bert stuttering, out of breath, and with Ernie talking a little too loud all mixed together made it sound like Bert was saying a bad word when he wasn't).
Yes I know. I felt bad for Bert that he got injured (he was lucky that he didn't fall forward otherwise he could have been killed).
Since Ernie and Bert are friends, I have always wondered if there was a skit or episode on Sesame Street where Ernie and Bert met for the first time and decided to be friends and live in an apartment together. The other thing I wonder is that, I wonder why Bert wants to be friends and live with Ernie if Ernie bothers him when he's reading, sleeping, etc.
That's true that, it was strange how Ernie was more worried for the piano than for Bert but, that's how Ernie is being unfair just like Bert said from 3:05-3:20. (Most of the skits have a happy ending for Ernie but, a sad and/or angry ending for Bert).
This must have been one of the last Ernie & Bert sketches that Jim and Frank did together. This looks like it was made between 1987 - 1989, could be from 1986
hahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaahhahaahahhaahahahahhaahhahaahhahahahahahahahaahhaahahahhahaahhahahahahaahhaahhaahha lol so funny i love you ernie
Those look like the perfect versions of Ernie & Bert when I make puppets outta them, those were very realisic crashes, & they should've used the other kind of barbells, with the rings, you know what I mean.

Yes, it does sound like Bert said that or, he must've said, "aww shoot, I should've known." However, if he did say a bad word here, it probably is a very bad thing for little kids to see and hear, especially when Sesame Street is a show to teach young kids to be polite and use good manners.
He just said "I should... I should've known.", he was stuttering because of exhaustion, lol. He wouldn't have said that. It is bad what kids learn from TV shows and mainstream radio today, Sesame Street was perfect.
Yes, as I listen carefully it does sound like Bert said that, and I can definately tell that he was stuttering from being out of breath (he is pretty strong). Also I agree, it is bad for kids to learn bad words from TV shows.
It also sounds like to me that Bert said "I should, I should've known." I can tell this now, as I listen to Bert carefully at 2:28. (Ernie sure was being unfair to Bert, and I know that most Ernie and Bert skits have a happy ending for Ernie but, a sad and/or angry ending for Bert).
"Is the piano all right?" Ernie sure doesn't know how to split roles fairly - or he just really likes to trick Bert. Bert sure is stronger than he looks!
A word from all The Youtubers who are commenting on this video:This video is rated E FOR Ernie is doing light things and B for Bert who carry the really "Heavy" Piano.Triple LOL
Seeing Bert carrying that piano reminds me of a CD cover I saw once...it was for a jazz organist named Larry Goldings, and he's carrying his Hammond B-3 on his back.
I also wonder if Ernie got that cotton candy from Letter People Land. There is a guy over there who specializes in that particular foodstuff.
This looks like the only skit where Bert was very interested in playing a game. Usually on other skits when Ernie wants to play a game with Bert, Bert usually responds saying "no Ernie I'm trying to read!", "no Ernie I'm counting my paper clips!", "no Ernie I'm counting my bottlecaps!", "no Ernie I'm eating oatmeal!" and "no Ernie I'm feeding my pet pigeon Bernice!"
That's true. The other thing I forgot to mention was that, if Ernie wanted to play a game while Bert was sleeping (since they have Ernie and Bert bedtime skits) Bert would respond "no Ernie I just want to sleep!"
Bert must've been very strong to carry that very very heavy piano all by himself. If anyone tried to carry a piano by themself, they would get squashed and maybe injured and/or killed.
I know, I was just giving my opinion, and felt surprised to see how strong Bert was carrying a heavy piano (heavier than the barbell and boulder) all by himself.
Indeed, you're right, Marshal Grover, in fact, it is my conviction that this sketch will most likely never be shown on the program proper again. Ernie's mistreatment of Bert throughout the sketch just doesn't fit in with Sesame Workshop's new dumbed down, politically correct curriculum.
Bert sure was light as a feather once he fell with the piano.
