  • So Happpy I found your channel!!!! :o)

    Thanks so much! for sharing

  • i got a question, i am black, but with a softer texture of hair

i started mine with the little comb coils, and they are really hard to maintain.

    would this technique work better.?

i use this dreadlock type wax ( i just call it dreadgrease lol) and its more like hair gel.

but i like the way this method looks better.

would i have to start over to try this method.?

  • i like how the sections look more round... how do you feel about rubber bands on the locks

  • they need to invest in dryer chairs. I couldnt sit there forever and have my hair blow dried.

  • Waw. dreads in Bangkok? waw. very interesting..... thanks for the information...

  • yo, ive had 3 sets of dreads in my lifetime and just started my fourth set last week.. im not using wax this time..(it makes em kinda nasty when u cut them and see the middle of the dread) i have moderately thick soft curly/wavy hair (not oriental) and im curious. will loose hairs form into the dreads themselves? thats what ive always heard from people. i dont really mid them that much and whenever i wash they seem to be clinging and wrapping around the dread their next to..

  • my needle is way to big it makes me sad cuz i have to get a new one

  • so interesting...

  • hello skill teacher, i recently had crochet dreads put into my hair with added human hair to make them longer. They are strong and gereally okay, apart from the human hai doen't seem to knit as well as my natural hair and feels spikey.... do you have any tips on how i could crochet the loose hairs in to the dread and make them softer... any advice would be aprecited... your wifes dreads are stunning x

  • seems like it takes to long! they might as well use the loc tool or the latch hook to maintain there locs, wow that look like it takes to long lol! sitting in the chair will give me butt cramps lol

  • I am so amazed at the dexterity of the finger and needle manipulation. How do they manage not to jam the needle into their fingers? I am african-american, and this has to be the best straight-haired style of locs I've ever seen. I wear my hair in anatural curly style, but if I were to ever get locs, I would go for the Thai-method.

  • why not sit him under a hair dryer for a complete dry? less time and more accuracy.

  • great vid thanks man:D

I've just realized that I totally fucked up my hair with wrong methods and to tired up with doing maintenance.

(I didn't maintain it about a year long and it's in terrible consistence now:)

but I think with this technique I can handle this monster on my head:D

    thanks a lot

  • did you say that was your wife with the dreads getting maintainced? if so, how would you say her sections are ? like maybe 1cm X 1cm? cause i had dreads like the guy on this video and they were 1inch X 1inch but i want thinner dreads for better maintain and manageable. please let me know. i also have a video of cutting my dreads if you want to check that out. but let me know the sectioning so i have an idea if i like that thickness. thanks.

    -edy

  • I measured a few of the base sections and the base of most of the locs are about 1 inch by 1 inch too. If we were to get her locs done again, what we would do differently is to section the hair more so it looks symmetrical on the scalp.

Unless your hair is very thick, I worry about the locs being too thin from having a smaller section base. Also know that the loc can be easily thickend with a crochet hook.

  • @skillteacher yeah i have really thick hair. i have like asian thick hair. and its a reason why i got dreasd to begin with. and i was just wondering if doing smaller sections like 1cm by 1cm would be pleanty for me. bc i want thinner ones, but i know they will thicken a good size as well. yes i love the chrochet hook method. its all i did.

  • In your situation, I would suggest braid your entire head like what you want your locs to look like, then take out each braid and put the dread knots in it with the crochet hook method. By seeing your hair in braids first, you can see how the locs will look; and it seems most consistent to form each dread loc.

Another suggestion is to dreading one section of your hair as a test.

  • @edyWizard hey edy just to let u no my friend had this problem with the whole 1inch by 1inch thing and she told me that she did a 1/2 inch and they are pretty small but i would say 1/2 inch or like maybe if u dont wont them that small i would do 1/3 inch.

    ~jrb~

  • @jrbandillneverswitch so you are suggesting that 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch would be good enough size for dreads? i might consider that because my last dreads were 1 inch x 1 inch and they were decent thickeness. i want them a bit thinner for better maintance. let me know. my hair is pretty long now but i am gonna wait another 4 months. thank you

  • 87 dreads,...500Can later and almost a year....Love it and also appreciate the videos you have done. I am considering some of my braid cut offs from years ago to extend but def. want to get a .6mm as i use a .75.....and the smaller head would make a difference in massaging the hair through......Cheers!! Hope to come to Bangok one day!!!

  • WOW GREAT VID!!

  • dude were the fuck do they do this in cali ! ?

  • MY OPINION:

You want somthing done? Go to Thai!

They have the best service and the best hands in the world x)

  • your vids are excellent. thanks!

  • what's your opinion about thinner dreads--about half the diameter of your wife's dreads. also, do you think you might post a video on how the length of the dread is extended using the pre-dreaded unattached locks the lady was making near the shop's entrance?

  • how small is the needle she is using

  • that's the .6mm

  • yeah but once you get maintenance done for a couple months isnt that it. u dont really have to get that much maintenance done cuase your locks are matured and tighter

  • Not really. Over time, showers, and sleeping loose hairs pop out of the locs and they need to be maintained every few months. Also every few months the loc grows out and the base needs to be locked. This method takes a lot more work than other methods but using the crochet hook gives you total control over how the locs look.

  • Oh, and by the way.. I got Dandruff or whatever it's called. Is there a soap for it or should i use the shampoo?

I really wanna get rid of them because it itches :(

  • Bar soap has worked for us. Check out my washing dreads advice for more insights.

  • @Casperskate

I used ot have the same problem, but i would never cut my locks!

Go buy a Tea tree oil shampoo! they sell them at whole foods! Its very good for all that itchiness! :) it has helped me out A LOT

  • I got my dreads made in Thailand for about 5 weeks ago :) But that wasn't in Bangkok but in South Pattaya beside The walking street. And i think they used this method too :)

My mom is from Thailand so we travel to Thailand every year.

But now i'm back in Denmark and i don't think they use this method, so me and my mom is trying to keep them fine ^^

    Anyways this was very helpfull!

    Thank you very much!

  • .65 mm

  • where can i get one of them croshay hook at?

    and what size are they

  • Look at your local sewing store, and find the smallest crochet hook you can. These that the girls are using are .65 mm.

  • whats the song at 5:30?...beautiful locs!

  • how do u keep ur dreads clean??? i mean how do u wash ur hair, any particular brand of shampoo???

  • Check out my washing dreads advice video for specifics, but to answer your question BAR SOAP. That's right, bar soap works the best. It helps with dandruff and it gets those dreads clean too. Try different ones to see what works for you. Be sure to find bar soaps that seem clean with out a lot of different smells or additives. We wash our scalp once every 2 weeks. and wash the locs every month or when they smell or get dirty. Completly wash the loc out so there is no residue left.

  • That guy have the same dread look as i do..

  • Thank You For This Video!!
