  • any lyrics?

  • @MELTZONE

    IS THAT LEIGH WILSON?

  • @VASquadRul3z yeah.....i've seen that, he doesn't use anything logical to support his opinion....

  • I can't believe how AWESOME this song is!It's too bad Andreas turned his back on the band, they could have been really really great. As for his religious issues,I'm a Christian and I love rock n roll.I couldn't live without it!!!!

  • \m/

  • Mallon kala ekane pou to gyrise sto xristianismo... giati apo mousiki einai GTP!!!

  • @TheBrintz Κομματάρα είναι..

  • The singer had his own problems to deal with and he found shelter in radical Christianity. Obviously if he was told so during these days he would freak out or laugh, but we can't blame somebody who died from cancer. If there were souls, he probably now rocks again from up there...

  • no he woke up and found god

  • @VASquadRul3z true....the whole movie is such a dissapointment.....

  • Wow from 1:25 onwards that sounds like a modern day "punk" solo (blink 182 etc) That's amazing, these guys are geniuses and way ahead of their time! I always got told "imitation is the highest form of flattery" i.e blink 182 and similar bands...

  • @VASquadRul3z ya its a shame christians say metal is evil they should go listen to stryper, whitecross, and holy soldier and than come to talk

  • @motleycrue24 no its not only metal its all brands of music and as to listen to stryper and the rest christians men dont wear makeup

  • Comment removed

  • @TheHodgey08 what does make up have to do with anything i said lol i dont see why your bashing on stryper for wearin make up when these guys were a ton more than stryper ever did

  • This song is too awesome, first time I heard of this band.Anyone knows where I can get the song?(Besides youtube downloader, the quality is crappy).

  • I remember Axatak and saw them a few times - even have a perfect copy of this vinyl. They were fun and this was their best song. But has anyone out there posted SAS - easily the best Melbourne metal band of that era. Simon CROFT was an amazing guitarist and they deserve some Youtube attention.

  • @99dangerman Right on about SAS dangerman - Rene had THE voice at THE time, always a great gig especially the Metal for Melbourne shows......

  • hehe.. this is pretty cool, Not worldclass perhaps, but its got charm. :) Gotta LOVE Youtube and the ppl posting old stuff like this. Cheers

  • @MozoZozo69 s mia koinwnia ratsistwn.....

  • Seem like a top band that got fuckn rolld by typical channel 9,10,7 scum

  • you can see the KISS influence in their stage presence

  • @LordOfAllFevrsNPlags yeah, they were also formerly called "kiss klones". i don't wanna be rude or say bad things, but i really don't like this... it's like a copy, and the copy will never be like the original.

  • Maybe it's a bit late to join in with the reunion posts that were going on about a year ago but Id just like to say hi to Mick Rush, Eddy, Gillan and all the guys I used to know in the Melbourne hard rock scene back in 1982.

    Regards Dave Saracen

PS I remember seeing Andrew on friday nights at Central Station records back in '82 and he was a nice guy and a very good musician you don't have to be Kiss fan to see that and I'm not .

  • o vothros anoixe

  • When I first saw this I was gonna say -'Shit Sandwich'. But after watching it over and over I absolutley fucking love this band!! It's trashy, posey, off key and is a really great Rock and Roll song. This Band are amazing and were wayyyy to cool for the Australian media to understand. As guitar01231 said 'nothing original' I agree-but tell me what is? Axatak do what they want and good luck to them. Thanks for posting Adelaidejetboy!! This is the coolest clip/band I have seen for bloody ages!!

  • i found this video and i saw your comment. first off all, i think this band wanted too much to be like kiss. even the name, the moves, the outfits. man, one thing is to be inspired by someone and another thing is trying to become someone. they cant be like kiss, because there is only one kiss band in the world, not 2, not 3, ont 730,212, just one. they had potential and i'm sure they could became great, but just a bit of originality. the song isn't that bad, not the best one, but good anyway

  • mmm such a wierd band.... sorry, but nothing original in it. never heard about them.

  • @guitar01231 1980s band thats why

  • that background noise is fucking horrible, really went into my ears lol

  • @DefendeR765 your in australia write in inglish

  • wow sounds like a rip off of detroit rock city from kiss

  • AN YPARXEI KAPIOS POY NA METAFRASEI..

  • sorry i dont speak good eanglish!

  • Did you go to Oakleigh.Greek.Orthodox.College. because thats what happened to me in year 10 we loved it because the music on it was awesome much to the religious teachers discuss

  • No, I went to the 1st High School of Larisa, in Greece. That was way back in 1992. Our religion teacher (basically, the "religion" lesson was all preaching, sermons and other stuff that doesn't belong to any school other than Sunday school) took us to the local para-ecclesiastic union to show us a tape that "proves" how satanic rock music really is. Of course, more than 99% of that the tape said was untrue. Boy, did the teacher get a piece of our minds afterwards for showing us this thing...

  • hi im from greece and i saw a movie with your seanger andreas and he say something for jesus christ..

  • Merry Kissmas to all friends, fans and band members of AXATAK. Have a great new year.

    Rock and roll all night

    Pete

  • Enough with the personal attacks. If you have a beef with anyone in particular then please message them personally and keep any libelous comments outta here.

  • adelaidjetboy thakz for helping my daughter with lightning rock clip lost mine in house fire very kind of you most kind regards brett. Lightning rock

  • es como una especie de copia barata de kiss soloque no tienen produccion xd

  • I totally thought this was a trojan clip? WTF?

Anyways how come people here have the same IP address? Totally weird. Like people all flame using fake profiles but man, this place it bogus. Interceptor, whosthefavorite, ace69er, are all the one person hahahahahaha.

wpepro(dot)net, never go online without it

  • you dont see heavy metal in contests these days at all! Just pop and teeny bopper SHIT

  • I remember this band from when I was in Australia many years ago. I lived in melbourne for 2 years and I saw them and many motels.

Brings back many memories. As good as KISS!!!!!

  • The first time i saw Axatak here there was a plethora of vitriolic comments against the band.

It helped shape my opinion and I left a negative comment. I came back because the tune is ADDICTIVE! And behold..another set of posters gossiping. I agree with Adelaidejetboy that this should be about the music. I like the band for their music and presence, but personal comments tar their image. I dont wanna know peoples private business, I am just here for the music.

  • Reading through the posts its kind of obvious this is a reunion of sorts, Ive seen Andrews Documentary and while I don't agree with a lot of what he says, what is important is what it meant to him, and he was cool with that, When Andrew did something it was all systems go 100%, this si with his music or his religion, if he had a blindness to things outside his beliefs that was just him

  • It's obvious that he was 100% dedicated to whatever he was doing. Pity he didn't follow through with music. I think he could've done some seriously great work, as he had a good voice. I wish I could say anything about his skills on the bass, but the speakers on my laptop really aren't made for critical listening. But given his dedication, I'm sure he was good. Once again, it's a pity the whole AXATAK musical project didn't survive and evolve, because I think it had lots of potential.

  • Hey guys, this is a basically a hello to troyonplanet (John), intersceptor (Pete), mezzmo62 (Don), and podoz (Yuri). It's Mick Rush here guys, and I just caught all this reminiscing going on, so I thought I'd say hi. Would love to do a catch up sometime if any of you are interested, I live in Northcote. Cheers, Mick

  • Hey Mick how's it going??

    This is way too bizarre.

By the way could I get 3 vodka and orange juices, 2 bourbons and coke and $50.00 change from a twenty. Remember?

    Cheers

    Pete

  • Hi Mick! remember this... (sing along now)..."so here's the trick c'mon and follow rush freak mick...."

Great to hear from you, by the way troyonplanet isn't John, another familiar face though from the good ol' days.

I'd love to catch up with you some time.

  • Mick Rush - holy shit! such vivid memories of your 21st - what a great night. Great to hear from you - i think some form of reunion is inevitable but god knows when! it would be bitchen to say the least to get everyone in the same room again. Maybe we could all crash one of Petes gigs!! Has anyone heard from John? be great to see how he's doing.

  • Oh my God Mick Rush! haven't seen you since you came to my 21st Back in 1984 with Andrew, how have you been, hope alls well. Eddie (Criss)

  • Hi again guys, I saw all your messages and it's good to hear from you all. I've sent each of you a message, so you've got my email address. As Don suggested, I'd love to get together sometime, so let's arrange it. Did someone say Pete is playing gigs somewhere? Stay in touch. Cheers, Mick.

  • Hi again Mick, yeah Ruby's Lounge on the 18th.

  • Cool Pete, I'll come and say hi. By the way boys, for any of you who aren't doing anything on the 10th, I'm doing an acoustic set at 8.00 at Dirty Secrets, 80 Smith St Collingwood. It's a low-key quiet vibe, and I only play for 45 minutes, so we could have a good catch up afterwards. Dave Gillan will be down from Queensland, for those of you who remember him. Cheers, Mick.

  • I've posted another one peoples.

    Pete

  • Brilliant, where were was this one? Rabbit

  • Hey everybody I've uploaded a new AXATAK compilation video. Check it out! It's over 5 mins long so it's a bit stop startish. It's best to let it load before viewing.

    Cheers

  • Did someone say reunion?

  • I met Andrew and Yuri in 1983 and played with Andrew in Axatak from 84 to 88. I spent a good deal of those four years with him doing band stuff and traveling to every rehearsal together. I would have to say at this stage in our lives we were best friends.

One simple turn of events changed everything.

Those of you who say he wasn't a religious nut. I beg to differ. Was NOT mentally unstable. I beg to differ again.

  • What was that simple turn of events if you dont want to say it on this post just leave a message on my page

  • Where's Trask?

  • @intersceptor trask was the first to say andy was a nutter he turned his back on him i should know i was there and as for mark he is married with children and his no pretty boy

  • Very sad about Andy Z. - the anti-heavy metal stuff that he left on the web reads like the diary of a religious nut. He was a great guy and a funny prankster. Unfortunately, I lost touch with him for a few years after he dumped interest in KISS etc and then passed away. I think he was possibly mentally unwell for many years before his untimely death.

  • yes he got into religion but he was absolutely not 'mentally unwell', he was very together right till the end. One of the coolest, nicest and sanest people i knew. He was my best mate for years.

  • Sorry, gonna have to beg to differ Podoz - Andrew "found" religion and then turned his back on quite a few friends from the days when he was a die-hard KISS fan - People who get "religion" and abandon their friends are usually suffering some type of personality disorder - The tired and baseless conspiracy theory about heavy metal music being a world wide sinister satanic plot is only swallowed by the naive, uneducated or the mentally unbalanced.

  • Mate people come and go in life. It is an unavoidable and natural occurrence. People change and is it better that they live a lie and stay friends with people they have nothing in common with? He was being honest at least! To pigeon-hole people who join religion/cults because of mental illness etc, is in itself and uneducated assumption. The guy found happiness. It may not be your cup of tea but be happy for him.

  • All those wacky cults and extreme religions work the same way to get new recruits by brainwashing weak people into believing they have been leading a life of poisonous despair, that their friends are wicked and lecherous and that they must divorce themselves from their evil pasts. Its all subliminal brainwashing foisted on vulnerable people ... lost, lonely or gullible individuals.

  • you have some (but certainly not all) valid points, i'm not interested in debating religion with you, only that Andrew was not mentally unwell as you suggest. I was also one of the friends he 'abandoned' when he 'found' religion, but we came together again, and i completely respect his reasons. By your definition, a huge part of the worlds population is mentally unwell. You can debate it with whoever you find who is interested in debating it with you. You are welcome to your opinion.

  • If you knew Andy as well as you say you would realise he never actually "Found Religion" it was always a major part of his life - although not practising religion himself, his family were extremely religious and he was surrounded by it every single day. Andy's could not and would not be told how to live, and any decision that was made was his and his alone, no brainwashing - i believe that i know the actual reason he turned to religion and that it was deeply personel - but more so, justifiable.

  • Well said Don,I remember many times waiting for him outside the Greek Orthodox church in Prahran then going out after that, Andrew found what he was looking for he was not mentally unstable,I spoke to him about 6 months before he died, we spoke for hours, not once did he push anything on to me, we spoke about life & becoming Fathers, he had nothing in common with many anymore he didnt have to expalin himself(to which many would not have understood)he was happy, sadly he didnt live long enough.

  • Wheres McCulloch!

  • John McCulloch aka Ace Frehley.....

  • Mezzmo62, I knew Andy from around 1977 through to around mid 1980's before I lost touch with him after he dropped out of the music scene, and my working life became more corporate with less time to party hard. We were both die hard KISS fans back then, and I visited his parents house on numerous occassions and was well aware of their faith etc. I'll clarify here that I'm not saying Andrew was mentally ill, and that I did not mean to offend his memory. Andy was truly an unforgettable character...

  • Don is that you? oh man, such memories Rabbit

  • hey rabbit, quite a re-union here isn't it! Hope you're doing well my friend...Yuri

  • Hi Yuri, yes this is truly special. I'm just so saddened that so much of this has been as a result of Andrew's passing. I was delighted to read that you guys re-kindled your friendship. I'd love to catch up with you at some stage and hear about your adventures...thanks for the note, Rabbit

  • Can you believe this shit - all these old names and faces - fantastic stuff. I think you were probably the last one ive seen when you came to work that day a few years ago - whats been happening? hard to believe 20+ years eh? Don

  • Hey Don, who thought we'd all meet up again thanks to youtube! I'll send you a personal message shortly, would love to catch up again. How about a double drum solo for old times sake?! :-)

  • Please excuse my ignorance! - do i know you Rabbit?? Don

  • That depends Don, were you the drummer in Axatak? If so, you sure do :) If not probably not

  • Yeah - its definitely me!!

  • Well, it has been a long time, remember Benalla? Thsat was a real mess wasnt it, Paul Hayward Music Centre? I think we me there and you introduced me to the guys at Yuri's. The gigs, The Central Club, The Tiger Lounge, hey where was that first gig as Axatak, I was doing lights,Your dad cut up oranges like the great coach he was, the Prince of Wales, Metal For Melb. I also remember you becoming a Dad, a joy we have both enjoyed. How is Liz? Rabbit (Peter Ahern)

  • Holy shit this is really starting to get crazy!! how the hell are you? people are just coming from nowhere here. Great to hear from you after all these years! I remember all as if it was yesterday - amazing. Liz & i split when Stephen was only 1 - he is now 23 and living with me and im proud to say he's turned out really well, a music lover with similar tastes - His dreadlocks dont do much for me but hey! what the hell!!

  • Liz and Hey Hey it's Saturday.........ah the memories

  • Thanks for posting...excellent to see all the early eighties aussie metal fans here! We were the one's that went to the shows & supported the bands around the country back then. I remember watching this on t.v that night. Anyone have some early Almost Human (S.A) footage? they have now reformed.

  • I was spewing that I missed the Almost Human reunion. My son was sick that night. Saw them many times back in the day. I remember they used to play the Bridgeway a lot on their free entry Thursday nights for a while. Some of those gigs were fucking great. Good times.

  • Yes...Almost Human at the Bridgeway was always awesome...best band in S.A at the time! Cheers!

  • Man you have some collection!! Just been through them all....Awesome memories.

    Here's a challenge.

Do you have The Johnnies "Showdown"

  • Sorry, I don't.

  • This is the first time i have seen this clip since it went to air all those years ago. It brings back heaps of memories and drives home the fact that Andy is no longer with us. I was fortunate enough to have been part of this great band during these times as the drummer and i look back and laugh at the fun times we had - Thanks to all the people who have posted positive comments - its nice to know a little Axatak lives on in a few people. Don

  • Thanks for dropping by, Don. Just out of interest, just how much old Axatak footage is out there in people's collections?

    Cheerz for the comment mate.

  • Wouldnt have a clue how much footage - i think i have the Hey Hey clip laying around somewhere - I'm pretty sure Andy had all old stuff but i think he destroyed it after he found religion.

  • Bummer. I know John The Beast (from Escape) had a show or two on video at one time. It'd be a shame to think most of it's all lost though. The Hey Hey clip I've never seen!! Maybe I should start asking around. Thanks for the reply.

  • It's Lemmy here. I am responsible for filming Axatak, Escape gigs.

  • Hi Lemmy, did I say thanks already?

    If not, THANKS A MILLION!!!!!

I'm just going to get back into my time machine now and head back to 2008.

    Cheers

  • Thanks for the thanks and yes a Million for sure. Cheers.

  • G'day lemmy - very long time my friend - thank god the world has people like you to keep the records of our lives heh! great to hear your still around - this whole thing is like one big time capsule isnt it!!!. Don

  • Hey Don is that Leigh "bloody hell, brutal, stired up!" Lemmy? Rabbit

  • The one and the same - could there ever be another?

  • Lemmy Wilson would have a heap of live footage in his collection. He filmed them and a lot of other Melbourne metal bands in the early eighties. I don't know of anyone else off hand.

  • Yes I was responsible for many shows and Kiss

Clones as well and I still have them but have them locked away. He was a good mate and I miss him.

    Lemmy

  • Hey Lemmy

Congratulations to you and your new Mrs Lemmy!

  • Nice to know you are still kicking Don.

Youtube seems to have immortalized the band. Ha! Who would have thought.

    Pete

  • Is this Pete Denero?

  • Yes my friend.

  • I bumped into Pete at the Paul Stanley concert recently at the Palais, still a cool dude

  • Hi Pete, Im Eddie mate I was with Axatak in the very early days (the beginning)I would appreciate if you could email me Johns email, i havent spoken to the mad MOFO in many years, and would love to catch up with him, we had a bit of fun in the early days!& would ilke to see what he's up to, cheers!

  • Hey Eddie, I'm sure we would have met but, unfortunately whenever i meet someone new I forget someone i used to know.

    How you been?

    I'll pass that on.

  • Yeah Thanks Pete, yeah I think I met you in the China Blue era In Preston, when Andy & I used to hang out a bit before he dropped out of the scene, thanks for passing the info on to John, Cheers!

  • Hey Don, The Eric Carr to my Peter Criss, how ya goin mate its been ages, hope u been well. Eddie

  • Hi Eddie - can you believe we're all still kicking? Hope your well and lifes been good to you - i'm really well and enjoying the good life. Dont know whats happening with John, i've swapped emails with Pete and he sees John fairly regularly. I saw Yuri a couple of years ago and he seemed to be doing really well too. From memory he was still playing and in a Christian band somewhere - at least these guys have the balls to enter a Church - i'm petrified i'd get hit by lightning or something!!!!

  • Hi Don, yeah life's good mate, got 2 boys (19 & 16yo)just working & plodding along, hadnt picked up the sticks for about 15 years, so I bought a Kit a couple of years ago, and enjoy playing again(give the arthritis a bit of a run) lol, gave Yuri a call, a lot of memories came back...good times many years ago, u still playing? anyway maybe we can all catch up one day for a trip down memory lane, stay well man! Eddie

  • Hey Don. Yes they were great times. I miss andy and don't forget shock rock on "hey hey" regards Lemmy

  • de la ptm!!

  • You're right this tune is very catchy. It has like Bogan has stated, a very solid hook. So much so that it appears to have an almost commercial jingle quality about it. This tune would be excellent for superbowl and nascar advertisements. They band have however marketed their whole music and image entirely from KISS though. Even their logo Axatak has the KISS trademark lightening bolts. I wonder what KISS would think of their replication!

    MERRY KISSMAS

  • Happy Axmas everybody!!!

  • Cool clip. It was the eighties guys give them a break. They were pretty groundbreaking in the aussie metal scene.

Thanks John for all your help a few years back, you were a good and loyal friend. Without your help I might not be here today.

  • It sticks in your head coz it has a good hook. Actually, an excellent catchy hook. Look they are way to much like KISS that it is like looking at a poor mans KISS performance. Dunno why they had to have 2 vocalists. The first bloke was doing a good job and the fluffy head skinny bloke went and ruined the whole thing. It is quite embarrassing watching the bassist and lead guitarists synchronized guitar show and wtf is that hand thing they are doing?

Starsearch? Did they make any proper vids?

  • You Rock AXATAK !

I'll buy a ticket for the reunion tour(haha).

Pete has written enough masterpieces to fill a set. If not I'm certain he can conjour up plenty more. It's not like he's gonna sleep anyway.

  • Axatak didn't know they had lost to Johnny O'keefe's daughter on star search before the announcement. If you have access to the whole show listen for a loud bang after the victor was awarded. Greg Evans makes note of the bang and makes a comment. The loud bang was John McCulloch kicking the door in anger at losing after the band had left the stage and on their way out. John would not have performed had they had been told before they hit the stage

  • Sad to hear what happened to Andrew. I used to see them a lot - Central Club mostly.

  • lead guitarist wearing a very Ace Frehley-esque silver top & has very very simmiliar guitar.

  • all members where ex Kiss klones, John the lead guitarist was ace of course so the influence shows thru, andrew, bass player also was a Gene Freak, he abandoned the music scene in about 88 after discovering religion even producing a low budget documentry ``The Mermaids, The Mysteries of Music (Satanism in Rock Music)`` can be googled, Andrew Died in about 1994 aged 31 of stomach Cancer. RIP, they where all friends of mine.

  • Oh man! I had no idea...I worked for these guys back in the Clones days and then in the early Axatak shows. We went separate ways, I went off to work for Blackjack, Nothing Sacred and an exhausting list of others, but I've never seen such dedication as Andrew Yuri, Don and John had to their performance. I did not know Andrew had passed away and am quite shocked as I sit here now. He's a great guy. Rabbit

  • I played drums with Axatak before Don, never played live with them though, we once did a video in Yuris loungeroon dressed up like Kiss, apparently Paul Stanley saw it, abd commented on Yuris lack of Chest hair, yeah it was sad about Andrew but he was a peace with himself

  • Oh my god, is that you Eddy?? We gotta catch up, been a long time since making that clip in my living room!! I still have pics of that day!

  • Hi Yuri, yeah its me, just PM'd You, talk soon. Eddie

  • Hey Rabbit, Lemmy here. Yes you are quite right there.

  • where's Yuri ?

  • He had joined Bengal Tigers by this stage.

  • Yuri left to join Bengal Tigers after a fallout with Andrew, they patched up just before Andrew Died

  • Yuris doing great! back in Melbourne, hoping to catch up with him soon
