I love Ginger Rogers! And I also have her autobiography! I'm still reading it, I can't put it down! What a wonderful woman and an amazing performer. I'm very interested in the "Golden Age" of Hollywood, and who better to take me back to those days than Miss Rogers, a very good storyteller and a classic actress, not to mention, one of my fav. actresses ever :)
The rhythm is ridiculously sexy! I like to think this is what Ginger sounds like in tap form. You can see what an excellent dancer she is and how her work with Fred influenced her. She does such cool broken rhythms, just like Fred did! This is why she's my favorite actress.
One of the VERY few tap dances from Ginger Rogers where the taps are live instead of dubbed.
According to her autobiography, Ginger choreographed the tap routine herself and specifically asked for a metal staircase for producing good, resounding sounds from the tap steps.
I Love the kiss the guy was sexy back in the day i would have loved to be Ginger during that kiss yum Ginger Rogers was a great actress i named my cat after her Ginger could do any role that came her way any day any time of the week i'm not a lesbeian but that's #1 girl right there then Lucy then katheren then Betty then ann southern
Oh, I love it!!! I've never seen Roxie Hart, but wow, Ginger continues to surprise me!!! Great clip!! ( Love the tap number too) Thanks for posting this!

Here Ginger looks and vamps uncannily as Jane Fonda did (later, 1965) in film Cat Ballou.

Man! When I first saw this scene I was completely blown away! Miss Rogers put, and continues to put, other tap dancers to shame. Go Miss Rogers!

Ginger proves again that she can do anything, even playing a convincing floozy. Go Ginger!

The metal staircase became a Roxie institution: it can be seen in Chicago, both the stage show and movie.
