VT Air Force ROTC

I'm a junior in high school right now, with decent test scores, 3.3 gpa, and i want to go to the AFROTC detachment unit at Embry Riddle Aeronautical Universtiy. Does anyone think I have a chance at getting an afrotc scholarship for that, or should I just keep dreaming? (for those who don't know what ERAU is, it's an extremely state of the art college, tuition is about 26,000)

im not going to lie a 3.3 GPA is not exactly what the USAFA or AFROTC looks for, the average is about a 3.7-3.8. You also should be psyichally fit along with being ona team or two. You can always do ROTC without a scholar ship....its the same principal if you go through ROTC and graduate and choose to comission youll become a 2nd Lt. If you r going for that schoalrship keep in mind that your conrtacted to a 5 year tour with the USAF.

I'm probably heading down to ERAU and was awarded a Type 7 scholarship in a technical field on Monday (which to my understanding means I get my choice of technical major). For ERAU, it converts to a 3-year Type 2.

HS GPA 3.0, and overall grades about average, maybe a little stronger. Good resume (a lot of leadership stuff, mostly related to the Civil Air Patrol, and the Air Force) and a great interview are what got it. I know people with better grades who didn't...

@gc1994 you dont get to be a pilot until you become an officer.. and you only become a pilot if you are picked as one depending on your test results on the afoq test or such..idk exacly what percetage of people get to be pilots

If your still a GMC(Freshman,Sophmore) you can, if you have already been through Field Training, become and POC and have signed your papers no.

depends if ur on scholarship or not: on scholarship u get to decide until sophomore year, without scholarship you get to decide until field training which is the summer before your junior year.

Those are Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets uniforms. It is mandatory to be a member of the COC if you are in any ROTC at Virginia Tech. So you end up in two organizations.

However, I'm not going to argue because, seeing as how I just got out of Army Basic, I wouldn't know jack shit.

ROTC is a great program and can benefit you if anyone is thinking about a Military career. Don't listen to what these fuckwads say. They're not brainwashing you and give you options, they don't force you to do anything.

Besides, ROTC isn't a Military Program, only Military-Funded.

I am one year from commissioning as a 2nd LT in the Air Force I respect each and every branch of the military because of what we do for the nation.

That being said, I am going to defend the Air Force now for any other service that likes to bash us. What you say doesn't bother us one bit because we know that no branch of the military would be anything without air power hands down.
