why is s/mileage in most of the videos with Mano Erina in it?

They were probably chosen to give Mano's PVs a bit of variety and also to give everyone a chance to see who they are so that when they debut they have more fans and they are more recognizable ^_^

But that's just a guess, there isn't an official reason other than to make the PVs more interesting XD

Who are the back-up dancers?

They are (from left to right at 0:13):

Ogawa Saki

Maeda Yuuka

Wada Ayaka

Fukuda Kanon

These are the members of a new unit called S/mileage

They were eggs but as far as I know Tsunku debuted those four with S/mileage.

Shugo Chara is still technically active, they are releasing a cover of Guardians 4 latest single "School Days".

3 of the four members (Wada, Maeda, and Fukuda) were in Shugo Chara Egg along with Saho Akari, but for some reason Saho Akari wasn't included with S/mileage and instead Tsunku choose Ogawa Saki.
