It's a shame that WICD switched to ABC in 2005. Sadly, I was 2 years old when they took it off First-Run Syndication, so Twirl and Bosom Buddies I have no recollection of ever seeing
While the house in later episodes looks better, the older house & neighborhood looks more "real". I live in Missouri & if you drive through Raytown, you will see sights like this one.
Pure gold! It's been years since I've seen either the original intro for BB or Mama's Family (with Alistair Quince). As for NBC in July '84...little could they have known that their fortunes would change for the rest of the century in just a few short weeks with the Fall '84 premiere of "The Cosby Show."
Wow! Thank you! For the longest time, I had wondered about how the show looked when it was actually airing new episodes. Being a longtime fan of the show through reruns back in the 90s as I am only 23, I had always heard about an extended version of the song and a character named Allistar Quince but never saw it so now is my first time. So it's only a repeat in the rhythm of the song; not a new rhythm huh. Also, that house in the song is never shown in reruns. I am think they used that house in
@Tonetare only the NBC years and they used what we ordinarily see the house in the first-run syndication years and decided to just keep using what was used in the first-run syndication years when the show went into repeats. Anyways, thanks. Also Busom Buddies has a really cool song. never heard of that show up until now and it gives off a nostalgic feel.
Very cool seeing an extended Mama's Family theme song, with a completely different house in the intro. I love seeing the original versions of shows, and not the syndicated edits!
thanks so much for this.....why cant the Joe Hamilton Estate/Son do something to make all the old original 83' 84' NBC seasons beg, and edited content in syndication available UGH Thanks....this is so cool for any mama fan...I was too young to see it original airing format...my parents also didnt really watch it then.
My compliments....the rarely seen network opening to Mama's Family. (Harvey Korman's intro was deleted, and the opening logo and end of the opening credits were edited to match the syndicated runs in the late 1980s.)
Summer of 1984 Nbc showed Boosom Buddies and Mama's family and aired them all summer and brought them both back the next summer. The ratings were so good there was talk of reviving both shows, Tom Hanks was a hit in Splash so no attempt was made, but Mama came back in syndication in the fall of 1986. You must remember the summer of 84 NBC was third runner-up network.
I really liked your video. Youtube can be a great asset for you. If you need any help getting your video exposed i use a site called Tubeviews . Net It has really done wonders for me, Keep in touch
WOW! This is great! A slightly longer "Bosom Buddies" opening with the now banned "My Life" and a Harvey Korman "Mama's Family" intro (altho granted not one of the funnier ones, but still nice to see! ) Thanks for posting.
@garrisonskunk Rumor has it the Harvey Korman Alister Quince opening intros from the 1983-1984 Mama's Family episodes were banned from syndie reruns and even the first season Mama's Family DVD set was because of a lawsuit from the guys against Masterpiece Theatre?
No, it's simply that Warner Bros. doesn't own them. When they revived the show in 1986, they co-produced it with Joe Hamilton Productions (JHP). The first two NBC season were solely produced by JHP. Warner'ss revival deal with JHP gave them rights to syndicate the first two seasons along with the new episodes. The syndicated versions of those two seasons do not contain the Alistair Quince intros, and the syndicated versions are all that Warner owns. The originals are still owned by JHP.

The WCID-TV ID at 0:12 looks like the 1983 NBC Be There ID.

Bosom Buddies syndicated reruns feature in the opening credits a song by Stephanie Mills instead of the Billy Joel "My Life" cover.

I was trying to remember what show had "MY Life" as the theme! It's "Bosom Buddies". Thanks for jogging me memory!

Thanks for posting this, it is a little bit screw up a little bit with the theme. It looks like it was FFWD in the middle of the theme.

This is the person who has the original copy of the television series of Bosom Buddies.

yep, which is also the only episode of the entire series where it was done on film, instead of the videotaped format.

It's funny I've been a MF fan for YEARS since the 90s but have never seen this old opening, but I dreamed that it was like this once. Strange!

@kbirdusa-Thanks for clearing that up! I was just muttering to myself "What the hell? That's not the background I know!" for the Mama credits :P
