  • I have a problem. when i play sonic and knuckles it says its blue sphere. I have sonic 1,2 and 3 but it keeps going on blue sphere so I cant play sonic and knuckles nor lock it on to any game.SO PLEASE HELP AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!!!srry 4 caps.

  • 1:11 so thats where the special stage of sonic rush originates from. Dang.

  • anybody know when sonic 3 and knuckles is coming to VC????

  • hhmmm I might have to buy this version considering the 360 arcade version sucked dick ¬.¬

  • @ThisISHappanin or get a Genesis /Megadrive

  • Now if only Sonic CD would come to the VC.

  • @JTCPingas09 Kinda strange, as you can now get SonicCD on everything now.... apart from the Wii. :o

  • when i get a wii for christmas, my first game will be super smash bros 64!!

  • @Gamerkidable i'm not sure that's on the virtual console......yet.

  • I fucked up and got this on Xbox. The game is ran by an emulator so there is no save files.

  • Music @ 0:16 is GREAT! The Sega Genesis always had the best music. I miss playing it.

  • when you get it of the virtual console can you join it to sonic 3????? please answer!

  • i dont get it whats lock on technology?

  • this is up for europe wiis ^^

  • yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hooray! Sonic & Knuckles is available now for North American Nintendo Wii's everywhere! ^_^

  • It'll be out in North America TODAY

  • Got it today :D I locked mine onto sonic 3 - I have sonic 1, 2 and 3, so I wanted S&K levels. I could've just not locked it on, but then it wouldn't have tails playable or a save feature.

  • in fact you can play as tails and it has TWO additional save files

  • @kyubi982 I thought that was only sonic 3 & knuckles? Doesnt S&K not locked onto anything have only sonic and knuckles with no save feature? Thats how it seemed when I first tried it, and it also says that on wikipedia =/

  • Awesomesauce, come to the NA VC soon, S&K!. :D

  • It's coming to Europe on 2/12/10, a North American release should be not long after.

  • @superfroman This'll probably be like SSB. As in, released in Japan sometime, then months later in Europe, then months later in America. That is, this will probably not be released in NA, until like maybe even after SMG2 is released.

  • @theultimatekoopa2 Nope, it's out in NA right now!

  • It is? Well, when I looked at the time of posting that, there was no date for NA. Wow, GameFAQs hadn't even listed this as being released in NA at all. And if they want proof, (which they do), I gave them the URL to the actual page on Nintendo of America's official site which clearly states the release date of February 15, 2010, and to me, that's pretty reliable, don't you think?

  • Oh my gosh. I'm so happy. A North American VC release shouldn't be too far off.

  • I just want to ask a little something. Will the lock on games (well I mean games like Knuckles in Sonic 2 and most importantly Sonic 3 & Knuckles but a lot of you already know that) I mean will games like S3&K be able to save the exact spot you were in the middle of playing if you go to the Wii menu like all other Genesis games on there? I'm sorry its just that since this has lock-on features I'm worried it might not leave off where you were in the middle of playing a zone *2bcont.*

  • I mean I'm worried that Lock-on games might not be able to leave off where you were last at when you go to the Wii Menu. I mean like being in the middle of the 2nd act of a zone. Reason I'm considering even getting all of those games off VC is because I like seeing how high your score goes up in S3&K since its so long and in games like Mega Collection I'd have to either turn off the game or leave the Wii/GNC on like the time I went to Church. Also another reason is *2bcont.*

  • *Please don't hate on me I'll try to make this My last comment I apologize in advance for anyone who hated this long thing* Another reason is because I won't have to worry about stuff like the Memory cards for the GNC getting curropted like it did a little recently with Mega Collection (really got Me upset.Only Ristar needed to be unlocked) so I wouldn't need to worry with VC even if it meant buying Sonic 2 & 3.I still need to know if lock on games save where you're at in the middle of a game.

  • Not to worry. Super Mario 64 didn't have that wii save feature, but the game itself still saved.

  • I gotta get this game on the VC when it comes to Europe (and America).

  • Uh, so this has been out in Japan for just about a week now -- can anyone confirm that this works as well as it looks like it does, how the lock-on system is set up, etc.?

  • While this is good, it in no way beats playing it on the original megadrive...

...and it may be a stupid question, but what exactly is this lock-on you're talking about?

  • The original cartridge had a slot on top which you could put in any of the three sonic games. It was basically 4 games in one. You could play the standalone sonic and knuckles game, with sonic 1 in, you could play the full blue sphere game, with sonic 2 in, you could play as knuckles in sonic, if you had sonic 3, it combined the data from sonic and knuckles with sonic 3 into one huge game. You could play as knuckles in sonic 3, and as tails in sonic and knuckles.

  • so lock-in is like the virtual replacement for physically putting any of the other Sonic cartridges into the S&K cartridge?

  • Originally Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles were going to be one big 14 level long game, simply called sonic 3. However, Sega's desire to get the game released in time for the holidays meant they were forced to split the game into two smaller games. They made the lock-on feature to make up for this.

  • fair enough, i have the original S&K cartridge for mega drive, i just didn't know what "lock-in" was, i thought it was something to do with the wii console itself.

  • It is confirmed for a Western release (It has ratings from the ESRB and OFLC)

  • Awsome :)

  • I cannot wait for this game to see an Virtual Console release. Now it's my 4th most requested VC title.

  • So how does that lock-on menu come up? When you first start Sonic & Knuckles?

  • My guess is pressing the minus key brings up the menu. In some Master System games on the VC you get a similar menu when pressing minus allowing you to play with the improved FM sound.

But, we'll have to wait a few days to see if that is also true here.

  • Ah, okay then.

  • When the Sonic & Knuckles game loads up where you choose Sonic or Knuckles, you press the minus button and you choose from there, so yeah, you're right.

  • So you don't need to absolutely own all 3 Sonics to access lock-on?

  • The website says you must own the other Sonic games first before you can access their lock-on features on VC. I thought it was pretty obvious.

  • What I mean is that you won't be able to access lock-on if you only have one or two of the Sonic games, which would be a terrible move if it were true.

  • That would be idiotic. I doubt Sega would do that. Relax.
