FR/LG have pre-set shinies in the battle tower.

Those are Espeon, Seaking and Meowth.

They're always shiny, and none of the other trainer pokemon can be shiny.

It's a Key Item in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum.

You get it after you've seen all the pokemon in the Sinnoh Dex, you don't have to catch them. After that, go to Birch's lab and Professor Oak will be there, you'll get the National Dex along with the Poke Radar.

No, I don't think so. Both my shiny Elekid and shiny Combee are male and I chose the female trainer. I'm thinking the gender ratios pretty much stay the same. (In the case of my Combee, I really wish it had been a female; poor Zarak will never evolve. >.>)

You could hack shinies in ANY of the Pokemon games... and he didn't hack. In Diamond/Pearl, if you manage to run into the same Pokemon a good number of times using the PokeRadar, there is a slim chance one of the patches of grass will sparkle, indicating a shiny Pokemon. That's how he knew it was a shiny coming up.

a little hint for those that are trying to get a shiny shinx:

put a pokemon with the static-ability in front of your team, it increases your chances of encountering an eclectric-type pokemon.

(same goes for magnet-pull and steel-pokes, not confirmed for Flash-Fire and fire-pokes)

For all people, chaining is encountering the same pokemon over and over again using Pokeradar. When you use your pokeradar, you (probably) see 4 patches of grass moving.

Choose the farthest one, and be sure to remember how it wiggles. Beat the pokemon it contains (DONT run) and you'll see another 4 patches moving. Choose the farthest one that wiggles the same as last time. Repeat this over and over. If you're not sure which patch to go into, reset your pokeradar (walk 50 steps and it resets, watch out for the moving patches though) and try again.
