@ScarPredator040365 Yes you can, not with any real accuracy, but with dynamite used this way, one does not need accuracy. Everyone always seems to used all sorts of guns, but i have found that when someone invades your home at night, and is confronted by the owner holding an 1871 French bayonet, something just seems to cause them to piss themselves!! The older weaponry leaves a LOT to be desired in close combat.

Superhero movies' stories are mostly a compromise between following the canon and making it an interesting movie for people who never read the comics. So I got no problem whatsoever with this movie.

This does make a little more sense than Wild Wild West.
In theatres, I could never buy that the United States of the period would let Will Smith's character take up such an esteemed government position. While taking place after the abolition, the USA was still a place of institutionalised racism for a long, long time.
The character would have made sense if they'd altered his backstory a little, i.e. making him a patriot who finds the original Jim West dead and decides to carry on his mission.
As a Hex fan, I'm not bothered by the supernatural or science fiction elements. Anyone that has read 'Hex' or 'Riders of the worm and such' knows that Jonah Woodson Hex has come across these things before, look at El Diablo in the current run and you can see that he still interacts with the unreal from time to time.
As a standalone popcorn movie though this looks irredeemable. The 60's Wild Wild West show by way of Van Helsing? No thanks.
Even Brolin has commented that the script was terrible.

People who are only fans of the current Hex mythos are going to be expecting astraight up wester movie with little elements of fantasy. But those who read the comics will know that Hex in the past has been faced with MANY badies and has his orgin story remade just as many times.

I don't know anything about Jonah Hex, but I know he's a cowboy. I look at this trailer, in the first half I see a nice traditional western in the second half I see everything a serious western should NOT be.

@Ghost2116 I don't think he has controllable 'powers'. In the books from time to time, they've hinted that Jonah is quite literally 'Hexed'. Read the 'guns of violence' trade of the Palmiotti and Gray run - as well as the 'Riders of the Worm' story, for evidence of this. This isn't at all the first time Jonah has come across the super-natural, in 1873 he was sent to the future for 18 issues for crying out loud.
@FabioCrow07770 Actually, they didn't state for years how Hex got his scar, it has never been about who scarred him as 'why' he is scarred. Like his soiled confederate uniform, Hex's disfiguration is a reminder of the wrong choices he has made in life.
As for Hex coming across the supernatural? That's been canon since the post-apocalyptic 'Hex' books. Even in Palmiotti and Gray's run, we've seen characters such as El Diablo, reminders that the 'unexplained' exists even in 'the past' of the DCU.

For example, the movie of the Shinning is barely anything like the book and it's considered a classic. I have a feeling I'll like the movie but I doubt it'll get good reviews because every movie I think looks good everyone hates.

@ScarPredator040365 Yes you can, not with any real accuracy, but with dynamite used this way, one does not need accuracy. Everyone always seems to used all sorts of guns, but i have found that when someone invades your home at night, and is confronted by the owner holding an 1871 French bayonet, something just seems to cause them to piss themselves!! The older weaponry leaves a LOT to be desired in close combat.

This does make a little more sense than Wild Wild West.
In theatres, I could never buy that the United States of the period would let Will Smith's character take up such an esteemed government position. While taking place after the abolition, the USA was still a place of institutionalised racism for a long, long time.
The character would have made sense if they'd altered his backstory a little, i.e. making him a patriot who finds the original Jim West dead and decides to carry on his mission.

As a Hex fan, I'm not bothered by the supernatural or science fiction elements. Anyone that has read 'Hex' or 'Riders of the worm and such' knows that Jonah Woodson Hex has come across these things before, look at El Diablo in the current run and you can see that he still interacts with the unreal from time to time.
As a standalone popcorn movie though this looks irredeemable. The 60's Wild Wild West show by way of Van Helsing? No thanks.
Even Brolin has commented that the script was terrible.

People who are only fans of the current Hex mythos are going to be expecting astraight up wester movie with little elements of fantasy. But those who read the comics will know that Hex in the past has been faced with MANY badies and has his orgin story remade just as many times.
I look forward to this and hope it is a testament to the fantasy-flared Hex of the past.

@Ghost2116 I don't think he has controllable 'powers'. In the books from time to time, they've hinted that Jonah is quite literally 'Hexed'. Read the 'guns of violence' trade of the Palmiotti and Gray run - as well as the 'Riders of the Worm' story, for evidence of this. This isn't at all the first time Jonah has come across the super-natural, in 1873 he was sent to the future for 18 issues for crying out loud.

@FabioCrow07770 Actually, they didn't state for years how Hex got his scar, it has never been about who scarred him as 'why' he is scarred. Like his soiled confederate uniform, Hex's disfiguration is a reminder of the wrong choices he has made in life.
As for Hex coming across the supernatural? That's been canon since the post-apocalyptic 'Hex' books. Even in Palmiotti and Gray's run, we've seen characters such as El Diablo, reminders that the 'unexplained' exists even in 'the past' of the DCU.

He got his scare from a Indians red hot Tomahawk after Hex killed the Indian chiefs son in a fight.

For example, the movie of the Shinning is barely anything like the book and it's considered a classic. I have a feeling I'll like the movie but I doubt it'll get good reviews because every movie I think looks good everyone hates.

Also, the definition of beauty was different back then. Therefore, Megan Fox wouldn't be the best to play the prostitute. I think Diane Krueger (sp) would have done a better job, but she's classy, so there's no chance of that happening.
Sigh, looks like I will hear my friends' opinions on this, and then rent it when it comes out on DVD.

Also, I didn't say Megan Fox can't act. I just think she needs to get a movie role where she's taken seriously. All of the movies she has been in, she was the hot chick. That's not good, in the long run, for her career.
And I'm telling you, Megan's beauty is too modern; she wouldn't have been considered terribly attractive back then.
