i should start a study to show how auto transmissions affect accidents.

Im sure there are plenty out there but it makes logical sense, this accident would have been certainly avoided by a manual transmission since the car would have simply stalled when he pressed the wrong pedal (problem solved, accident avoided).

But the auto trans prob keeps american cars in business :) hence its still around and european vehicles are all offered in manual and usually sold in manual.
