This was the advice I needed for this piece, I couldn´t figure out the fingering but with this video it all cleared up.. So thank you very much Allyson :D
@IAmDeeChinaMan - look for my practice clip for this piece (look in my playlist for Suzuki book 1), it'll be more help sorting the notes out - they're really tricky for this piece. This video is meant to help you practice playing through once you've got the notes sorted out. Patience and humour will help! :-)
Thank you so much for posting these helpful videos! I am a beginner and I'm on the 1st book of suzuki. I am trying to look for a good violin that is has a price $100-$500.
Where did you buy your violin? You are the only best violin teacher on youtube! Thank you!
@Nihilityb - Everyone's fourth finger is a bit different. Start to use it when enough other things are under control that you have a bit of free mental space to deal with it. Usually requires some edge-of-the-hand turning inwards towards the neck a bit, or else a bit of a rocking-towards-your-nose from the wrist movement, unless you have really long fourth fingers. There's no rush on it - should be using it before getting into Book 2 at the latest, though.
@AllysonsViolinStudio don't rock, that'll cause your wrist to pop out and form a bad hand position won't it? only reason i know is because i taught myself how to use fourth finger and that's what it caused and now i have to completely relearn my hand position after playing for 4 years :P
@mcfriz123 - Better out than in! There is considerable variation in the left hand/arm alignment of successful violinists, and it has a lot to do with body shape and personal preference. If the left wrist comes in, usually the palm is reaching up to the neck and that is the kiss of death for left hand mobility, so be really careful about that. Watch all your favourite violinists and imitate them!
Allysons, thanks for your video, it is quite helpful.
