the NIV was translated by scholars from all over the world to make an accurate Bible translation that is more readable in current English and more accurate with all the available early texts in the original languages. The NIV does not have the apocrypha like the KJV did. Ask yourself why the 1611 KJV had the apocrypha.
I've been reading out of the NIV for 31 years and there is nothing wrong with it. I can also read other translations that are valid translations and I go to the original Greek and Hebrew when I have questions. Don't fall into the trap of thinking the KJV is the only valid translation of the Bible. There are false translations such as the New World Translation, and paraphrases that have the opinions of a human prominent in them.
The Geneva Bible contained footnotes declaring Roman Catholicism to be the harlot of Babylon and the popes to be antichrists. The KJV was intended to silence the Geneva Bible and included 14 books of the Apocrypha which Catholicism declared to be part of the Bible at the Council of Trent 10 years after they burned William Tyndale. The New International Version of the Bible does not have the Apocrypha.
The Geneva Bible was the first have the chapters and verse numbers. It was published by the assistants of William Tyndale, who was burned at the stake for translating the bible into English for people to read.
KJV only people are promoting Roman Catholicism. The 1611 KJV was also full of errors and went through many revisions before becoming the outdated English version that it is today in the late 1700s. The original 1611 version isn't even readable in current English and that's why Rome wants people to only read that version if they are going to read the bible at all. They burned William Tyndale for putting the Bible into the language that people could read.
Your absolutely right the U.N is created for that purpose.

The NIV is a horribly corrupt translation.
