The chefs don't know what dulse is? I find that hard to believe. You can get it in any health food store along with all the other bazillion kinds of kelp and seaweed. I can see the average inlander not knowing, but I kind of expect these guys to be more up on ingredients of the world.

@pookoos Well, seaweed in general doesn't have too many avenues to explore in the realm of cooking. Obviously, sushi is a given, and you can definitely use it as a garnish, but it isn't typically the first idea that comes to mind. The fact that it's a ground up red variety instead of the dark green nori sheets that most people are used to seeing further ups the obscurity factor. Considering all of that, it's not surprising that they were a little stumped.

@genome02 - I'd love to try it, prepared properly. All of a sudden recently, haggis has come up in a few different cooking shows I've watched. It's strange how that goes sometimes - an ingredient I have never heard of all of a sudden is used/mentioned in 2, 3, 4 different shows. Anyway, cheers.

Blood doesn't belong in the kitchen. When you bloody your glove you must leave, wash up and stay away until the bleeding stops. You cannot continue with blood in your glove. The odds of you continuing to cook with the bloodied glove and cut the glove is high and will contaminate the food. (Yes, I am a woman butcher..)

I noticed that too. All of a sudden they show a close up of her chopping something, and she's wearing a plastic glove, and inside the glove there is a ton of blood on one of her fingers. Ouch. They have to edit a lot though, so the cutting part obviously got, well, cut...
