After the "Small Things" performance, he gets to talk with Blink and stuff, then he requested them if they can play "Adam's Song", which they did. I don't remember fully, but I do remember watching this on TV a lot and recording onto a VHS.

Because he was actually trying to sing on Leno. He uses a whole new vocal technique now. He prbly didnt want AVA sounding like Blink so he emphasized on his "Accent" thing he has and is using his diaphragm more. He was better off with improper technique and kick ass pop punk than good breathing and his accent.

this performance is better compared to the Leno one, that is quite obviously true. its only because Tom has since changed his vocal style quite a bit. this was less dramatic and more teenage-guy Tom, now its AVA Tom. not saying that AVA Tom is necessarily bad, I just dont think its suited for Blink performances and people expected Blink Tom are getting AVA Tom, so they think it sounds bad/weird. Unfortunate? Yes.
