Interesting, kind of makes you wonder about the electron theory concept, that states a return path is needed, but if it lights up without a return path, then surely electrons must still be flowing, assuming it is electrons lighting it, otherwise the electron theory may be a bit at least incorrect, but one wonders.

Yes, I don't believe that electron are orbitting proton and then jump around to make electricity.
