Oh my, my, my. Memories of driving down the highway in my older brother's van, listening to this, just soaking in the scenery, the music, the discovery and adventure of it all. Great times, thanks bro.
When the Beatles first broke up everyone thopugh George would be the big star. George put out All Things Must Pass, while McCartney was puttibng out stuff like Uncle Albert
I'm glad to see a thread celebrating what a truly magnificent set of solo albums George released. Considering his profile, definitely up there with the most underrated in modern music. Not only overshadowed by McCartney and Lennon, but by his own All Things Must Pass, which is where most people seem to start and stop when considering his solo work. As much as I love that album, Extra Texture, Thirty Three and 1/3, and his eponymous effort are all on my turntable much more. Love Dark Horse too.
Whilst liking McCartney immensely, George deserves to be in the same league at least, especially as he continued recording throughout the 70s unlike John. George's 70s albums are 1st rate and had a sound totally unique and unlike anything else being recorded. McCartney had a sound that was different and special but nothing as special as the sound of the late great George Harrison.

Was blown away by this when I first heard it in 1975. Still love it today.

...and this particular album is mercilessly underrated.

This is one of George's best efforts. Far superior to anything Paul was doing at the same time.

Omg, yes. Harrison's solo career blows McCartneys OUT OF THE WATER.
