I going to buy one because I can't afford to keep paying Garbage.Nothing but marothons of the same show every time I turn to a station. I'm going to save my money for groceries for the kids and keep them from watching that stupid music channel that doesn't even play music anymore, but still call themselves Music Television. Down with paying for TV, it's just not worth it. Satellite or Cable, let somebody else pay for it.I'm not a sucker anymore.
what the heck am I to do when it just keeps saying no signal, I called the # on the box and the voices were so faint I could barely understand them and it was press 1 press 2 and on and on and on. No help at all. I am still getting channels but the reception is unpredictable. Wonder why some stations are still analog. This is in Canada.
It seems American digital boxes are superior to their British counterparts, those sold over here don't have built in UHF Modulators, which means you have to buy an additional box (The cheapest of which is £30) to use a normal TV set.
@rudyintwincityboxing that's the real DTV cables some boxes have s-video which is the best of all and the way he connect it will give an analog signal.
Im only guessing, but if there are 200 million regular televisions in America to be converted into HD, then that $40 in government subsidy per TV × 200,000,000 = $8 billion.
Why is the government so anxious to spend 8 billion dollars on her citizens to improve the clarity of a TV picture? Or is the recently touted additional bandwidth cover story that supposedly is to be gained with the HD technology the only and genuine reason for spending so much taxpayer dollars on HD conversion?
Maybe it's because older people will probably have the most trouble hooking up their boxes. And maybe I don't want cable or buy a new TV because mine is perfectly good and it would cost $400 plus to replace mine.
AND I FIND IT FUCKING FUNNY how people still don't know how to hook these things up. You hook them up exactly like a VCR! and VCRs have been around on the home market since 1976. If anyone still doesn't know how to hook the fuckers up, then ditch the bastards. Let them enjoy their fucking snow.
why should they use a antenna cable for their annalogue tv if they could use composite ?
it,s nt to special digital tv cuzz, 1 you will not notice much difference(even if you could use component) 2 it,s still standard difinition,3 even hich definition is allready in use for 10 years in the usa.
just standardize hd world wide and say goodbay to even sd digital tv.
I seen many models of RCA. I only seen 1 RCA model that is applied for energy star. Just check at the following stores for any converter box applied for energy star;
1) Wal-Mart
2) Best-Buy
3) Radio Shack
there is many other places that accept the coupons...
Get on of those portable DVD players that have a composite inputs and use the converter box with the antenna and plug the converter box into the DVD player via composite
The Truth about converters at stores, I have saved my converter box coupon. At July 1st I went to my local Radio Shack, and they said that they keep on running out and now my coupon has just expired and cannot get another coupon and still don't have a converter box. I am just going to buy a new TV soon with cause most of mine are analog CRT type.
they can be only used to recieve over the air tv. the converter cannot be used to substitute a cable box they are designed so that you cannot use it with your cable tv you will have to obtain a set top box from your cable provider
all those old pocket tv's you have will pretty much be useless unless you wanna walk around holding a converter box. which is impossible because they need to be plugged in.
Get a pocket tv with a Digital tuner and problem solved.
You can use the portable (battery powered) TV's - only if you buy a plug-in converter, so don't plan on using it to watch the game while camping or on a car trip because they don't plan on making battery powered converters. You'd need to get one of those 12v dc/ac converters as well. (100 dollars later...)
In many cases you won't need your old remote at all"
What about those other cases? What about the people with disabilities who need to use extra-large button universal remotes as they have now? Will any of those work with the DTA800?

if they've owned a VCR in their lives, they'll allready know how to hook up a cocksucking converter box

Maybe because people do not feel they should have to pay every month just to watch TV.

Exactly. TV has ALWAYS been free due to advertising. It should stay that way except for premium channels.

Why would you look at a human being and see their age? This type of discrimination is no different than looking at gender, race, etc.
