@LittleMissWigglez I don't know. It is sexist, but at the same time, even in modern society, women still seem to gravitate towards the role of caring for the house.
Hey, RedRoosterRoad does have a good point, in the medievil episode, Giles takes one bite and throws it on the ground. And, well, the camera crew etc may eat the food too but the points still there, they may have the good life but a lot of people cant go throwing it away, spitting it out or messing with berries in a fodd fight
@LittleMissWigglez True, we throw away several million tonnes of food yearly. But instead of being angry at the show, think through your own, your family's and your friends consumption and waste. How much do you buy that you don't eat? We all do it, and we need to improve in not wasting.
@Laraischibi yeah that is what annoys me, people just have it and never sort it out, if would be better for wallet too to soert it out, like if you buy two loafs of bread and one just goes bad why not stop buying it or turning it into rusk, it is all about planning and thinking and using logics that people seem to lack a lot
That's the only one of the series, so far, that wasn't recording in Britain, based on that one, it showed how the French Revolution was caused by a number of factors, other than Louis XVI was eating obscene amounts and his subject starved (due at least in part to nature)
@RaidenTheAlmighty it's also due to the stench of the living conditions inside the city, due to places like a tannery (which is where leather is made, you don't want to know what that involved). What would your reaction to a smell that's a mix of onions, rotting meat, animal s*** and body odour? (that last one is understandable as even the aristocracy didn't bathe often)
@NetMoverSitan I don't know if the stench bothered them as much as it would have bothered us. If you are constantly surrounded by those sorts of smells, you eventually because much less aware of them.
I think the problem was that the peasants literally had nothing to eat. Being that the aristocracy of the time were eating obscene amounts of fish, mammals and birds, they weren't effected by the shortage of bread.
@RaidenTheAlmighty as I said, "due at least in part to nature", other parts are man-made troubles (both the aristocracy with their indulgent eating and the industrial side due to them not realising what they're doing, as it's not just sewage that got dumped in the river that is drunk from...)
@NetMoverSitan Honestly, I don't think the diet of the Aristocracy had anything to do with the starvation of the peasant class, because they were eating completely different things. The poor subsisted on grains because meat was too expensive, and they thought that veggies were livestock feed.
Back then, nobody drank from the rivers. They mostly drank alcohol, because they knew that water would make you sick.
May I say, I love this program, it's truly informative and entertaining at the same time but Giles' table manners are dispicable and truly gross! Not to mention the waste of food that occurs at EVERY episode in a world where there are people unemployed struggling to buy food. I'm appalled
come off it, people aren't going to watch the show and think, ooh it's ok to waste food...... we do it anyway. as the food wouldn't get to poorer countries anyway it doesn't really make any difference. it may be selfish to do it when others have so little but it's not really making any difference, if you see what I mean. you, not throwing away half your meal doesn't actualy make things better for someone who is starving.
@Rowan07001484 i know what you mean! why do people say ' its such a waste of food'' when some of them throw half of what they made for dinner or lunch or whatever in the garbage. even if you eat everything it wont help the starving people in the world. so. yeah i verry much agree with what you said
@salemgirl123 And how much food is wasted in the production of these foods in the first place. I'm hardly without guilt but if they really cared people would buy basic ingredients and make food themselves, or buy local.
@RedRoosterRoad I already do my bit. And my comment is not about world hanger as many dumb people here have commented. It's about personal way of carrying oneself, and the way the 2 people featured in this program wasted food. But reasoning with an idiot like you lot it's a waste of time. You wouldn't be good even for plastic recycling.
I agree with emily1307. Papiprah, if you're very concerned about this program, maybe you should be proactive and help stop world hunger by going on a hunger strike!
@emily1307 Quite right. Not to mention that the food that isn't entirely inedible wouldn't simply be wasted, I'm sure that all of the production team would be able to take left overs.
the 50's style clothing actually really suits these two LOL

Generally speaking, whatever isn't eaten by the host(ess) of any food show is gobbled up by the camera crew,so no fear of waste here.

@NetMoverSitan It was almost entirely due to nature. Bad wheat harvests meant less bread, which was all the poor had to eat.
