Just beat Hagane, playing it through for the first time. Holy shit, is it unforgiving. And I played blind, so I had no idea what i was doing, let alone knew about the super moves.....
No offense, but you guys need to up the energy and sound less like you're reading from a script. While the content is fine, it's a tad boring unfortunately. Good luck with your other vids
Hmm, some of these games on this list are a bit odd, i mean UN Squadron wasnt massively hard and R-Type III was loads harder!!. Contra on the NES was harder than Contra 3 and i completed on the hardest setting to get the true ending when i was like 12....or though i probably wouldnt be able to do it now lol. I do agree with the number one slot, Hagane: The Final Conflict was rock, and im lucky enough to actually own a boxed ntsc version of the game!
I've beaten Donkey Kong Country with an absolute, perfect score. Not just maximum room percentage, but picking up _every_single_banana_in_the_entire_game. And in under an hour. I dont even remember how many months I spent as a kid. Then my grandad deleted the save files by turning it on and fiddling with the cart. I was so mad. :(
Final bosses in Mega Man 7, Mega Man X, Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3, R-Type III, Super R-Type, Gradius III was pain to finish. I have not played through DKC trilogy yet, though! :)
@robbzkel meant final bosses in the mega man games and the whole games for the shoot em ups and Lagoon. Disney's The Lion King I did found very hard too but after a while I did it.
Donkey Kong Country? Hard? Turn in your gamer cards, gentlemen. Also, where's Street Fighter 2? Fighting Ryu had more difficulty than the entire game of DKC.
@BSUstudent450 what? fighting ryu? how hard is ryu for you... the most hardest one is bison. ryu if you know how to use your character youll beat em for good...
@yawngate I can beat Bison without any frustration using Ken. But Ryu? The quickest I've ever beat him is with 28 minutes of dying, hitting continue, and trying yet again. Ryu is the only guy I have seen in Street Fighter that spams his special attack, and can attack faster than you can block.
I played Empire Strikes Back at my local Kay-Bee Toys when I was like 12 and I had to have it. I'm surprised my SNES still worked after throwing it against the wall as many times as I did. Infinite thermal detonators is NOT a cheat, it is a necessity, and those who played it back then can back me up!
Donkey Kong Country just took patience, though I can definitely see how some people could say it was hard (though I personally beat it to 100% completion when I was a teen.) I beat Contra III on Hard, but I used the 1st level trick to get max lives. I'd played almost all of the other games on the list, with the exception of Hagane, ActRaiser, and Super Empire Strikes Back (But I beat Super Star Wars.) Considering myself a damn good player, I have to say the rest of these games are very tough!
I played only a few from this list, but I have to say DKCountry was not that hard, in fact was one of the first videogames I finished when I was a kid. As I remember, the most difficult one I had was MegamanX.. and Jurassic Park, but this last one just because the bad programing and level design
Hey guys, first time viewer, a good list, I would have to agree with you on your choices, So, if hagange was a limited run game, dose that make it valuable? just wondering, if looks kinda like strider, which is a plus imo...
DKC was not that hard. even though i was like 6 or 7 when it came out, i got it, and even though it kicked my ass a few times i did beat it, as well as the second and the third ones, which imo were excellent sequels
I forgot the name of this under-rated game based on Goblins & Ghouls and Castelvania. It was relesed in 1991-1994.The title was The Night of the Demons. You conrol this Orange Gargoyle
who flies at Night.I once saw the speedrun of that game, but can't remember the exact title.

Oh for sure out of this world and wolverine adamantium rage that was fuggin impossible, Donkey Kong Country was hard on P.C. with mouse and keyboard on an emulator but on Snes it wasn't to hard to beat
Hmmmm I guess that list is okay... but really DKC ?! Ugh. I was extremely deceive to not see Pocky & Rocky ANYWHERE on this list! I personally was not a hardcore fan of Castlevania X and Battletoads as games that are worth playing, but if you tell me Pocky & Rocky isn't worth playing... I don't know what is... especially that it's 2 players friendly.
Well I never thought of myself as a badass gamer, but I actually beat most of the games presented here. Super R-Type was fucking hellish. I remember the last level on the hardest difficulty almost made me cry with despair and frustration. That in my mind is NOT a good thing in a game. Instead of feeling challenged, I remember more feeling insulted. And no... I didn't beat the game on that level, as I deemed it not worth the hassle. NO ending theme or credit text, or sense of gratification was.
If you think Act Raiser was hard enough? Try the Japanese/un-censored version, harder difficulty and some enemies cut for some reason. Your entire list is well designed, stuck to your rules and no RPG's. 7 of these I have done already :D
PS: End Boss of Super Ghouls and Ghosts can be a complete joke on the PSP Capcom Classics if you have the weapon select cheat giving you the bow, I guess you don't need the bracelet to kill him, just to get through the door. :D
pilotwings brilliant game, very challenging the levels are quite beatable like all things with practice, but i have never beaten the night time helicopter mission and i have only beaten the day time helicopter mission maybe 3 times or so.......out of 200 attempts.......
whats wrong with these guys on commentary....geeze man...good list though i cant get past 430,000 population on sim city, and ghost n goblins is a masterpiece, frustrating one but still such a fantastic game
I would argue that because the controls were generally better and third party companies had more experience making games and more games with the ability to save, I think the notion that SNES is for "novices" is unfair.
contra III and empire strikes back are fun and easy with the codes. without actually beatable with patience . super ghouls in ghosts totally frustrating lol.
@deniskenn years ago being told to beat the nes game again after the first run i took it out of the machine through it against a wall and walked away from the series. Glad to hear you didnt have my reaction lol
I'm sorry, I'm hardly a great gamer but Donkey Kong Country was one of the easiest games I ever completed. Cant say I agree with this one being in the list.

They only game I played from that countdown was DKC and yes it was hard, but I did beat it! I just wasn't able to get everything. However, I do think DKC II was harder because I never beat it.
@kyoku1982 yeah you can beat any game if you play it 400 times with muscle memory, its how i beat ghost n goblins on easy anyways.....but yes donkey kong is a well made difficult game, and yes many people can beat it o probably could as well if i played it a hundred more times or so
En una que otra elecion estoy deacuerdo (UN Squadron, los SW o SGANDG) Pero? DCK? Ni cagaaaaaando ah! El dos de por si sin ser dificil tiene una mayor dificultad! Pero bueno, la lista es curiosa.
i made alot of money off Donkey Kong Country 64. dad worked at a landfill and boxes of the game (20-30 per box) would come in. we'd take them and sell them to flea market video game retailers for half the money and they were able to sell them for the same price (or a little less) as big box stores. the game was so in demand back them that couldn't keep them stocked. stores usualy don't resell returns, they throw them out. it costs me to restock it then to order new ones. IDK why.
I was surprised not to see Super Castlevania 4 on here, but all these other games you mentioned other than DKC look pretty damn hard.
Wow! I must be really awesome to have beaten DKC so many times without getting anywhere close to getting a Game Over for so many years.
Well, to be brutally honest, I don't think DKC is that hard. Well, at least not hard enough to put on this list. Besides, DKC2 is much much harder and by far the most difficult of the DKC trilogy.
DKC were hard at first but if you play them for a long time and its really not to hard although its still fun as hell and there is 1 game i do remember for SNES that was hard was Shadowrun or atleast i thought it was hard
@guhanable I got the FAT PSP and filled it with 1000 SNES games.... CONTRE III rulez!! Hey did u know that the european edition was called SUPER PROBOTECTOR? lol
You call these HARD? You have never ever played hard until youve played the very rare and very unforgiving JIM POWER AND THE LOST DIMENSION
Think Contra except every minion enemy is the f*cking juggernaut, you get killed every time a strong wind picks up, the killer traps move at 120mph, the bosses are from Bullet Hell, and you have to beat the game with a NERF pistol
Castlevania? CASTLEVANIA?!

@Sly88Frye Castlevania 4 wasn't that hard, though. At least, it wasn't nearly as hard as the earlier games in the series. Dracula X was MUCH harder.

O-O Really? You think DKC was hard? Try playing fucking Clock Tower on the SNES. THAT'S HARD!
boykingkilla 1 month ago
@muscleslikeryu they had to have beaten the game to be on the list.

I like how they say "DKC is one of the best HARD games ever"
More like DKC is the best game ever. period
Sil3ntcreed 1 month ago
You call these HARD? You have never ever played hard until youve played the very rare and very unforgiving JIM POWER AND THE LOST DIMENSION
Think Contra except every minion enemy is the f*cking juggernaut, you get killed every time a strong wind picks up, the killer traps move at 120mph, the bosses are from Bullet Hell, and you have to beat the game with a NERF pistol
