  • All these people telling you what you are doing wrong are obviously jealous... :) i think it was awesome!

  • Tail swishing, head low, ears pinned back, dislikes it... :/ That is what I observed. :P

  • Step1.You need a shoer with a forge that knows the angles ,never more than 3 and only 1 per trim The shoe should have a runner up (No barefoot sliding )2.Continual foward motion is dependent on the lead cue timing. ( bad timing = bad knees) 3. Horse under is rider wieght (lean) foward ,which creates a perpendicular angle through the slide.... A correct slide is an split function, unnatural act for the horse and it requires the riders help .Bad slides or to many slides = the horse quits

  • It's not getting the head down. It's getting the horse soft so he can drive up underneath himself with that hind end to get his ass in the ground, pedal with the front and be soft in the face.

  • If you look at a horse in pasture you will notice that when they he is calm it´s head is low, when he get all exited his head comes up.....So when they discovered this,,,,,down goes the head. And let me tell you from experience this calms them down immensely.

  • not to be mean (really!) but why do western horses have their heads so far down? i used to ride an ex-western pleasure mare, and i was surprised she didn't trip over her own head.

  • @foxdemon23112 Most western horses are stock horses (Qh, Paint, Appy, etc.) and they naturally have a low head carriage. Other western horses are trained to do this. But for example, my Spotted Saddle is used for mostly barrel racing...he has "normal" head carriage because he's not bred to have it low naturally and I don't feel like training a 25 year old to drop it's head.

  • Clean stop. Although I do have to say that the head hanging so low isn't attractive.

  • @slitwristschick That´s in the eye of the beholder.....To me it´s beautiful!!!!

  • what is the diffrence between sliding stop an reining stop?

  • @MEinMuhahaFarno No difference

  • @MEinMuhahaFarno No difference

  • @MEinMuhahaFarno It's the same thing.

  • @MEinMuhahaFarno

    it;s the same thing

  • yay

  • ....well I think it´s great (:

  • he sotmps too hard in the front

  • my friend can slide up to 400 meters :)

  • thats not possible.

  • it was probably not 400 i must've got mixed up sorry, but her horse Story is amazing! she wscan slide really far

  • ohh :P

  • Just cause the head is low doesn't mean it's mad, my old reining horse used to have his head low it;s just a comfort zone for some.

  • @Riversidecowgirl

isn't it good if the horse leaves it's head low? i ride english and english riders find it godd, if the head is low. it's good for the back. (okay, later it has to make it's neck round, but in the beginning it is very good) bt i don't know a lot about western riding...

  • reining horses are trained to give to the bit, when you stop a horse like this, he puts a little presure in his mouth and the head goes down, the horse rounds his body out and keeps his front end still moving while his butt is in the ground, in the old days of reining..the horse stops and his head goes strait up and is more unbalanced, you see reining horses today with their heads down and in alot more, it's all been tweeked over the years to better the horsemanship.

  • Horses have different stopping style with their head and neck.

Some are low, some are level and some are a little higher.

My reining mare can't drop her nose to the dirt because her neck is a lil shorter and she has a thicker throatlatch. But she drills her butt into the ground. That's going to score way better than a horse that puts his nose in the dirt and doesn't stop as well. And she'll score equal to one who puts their head down and stops just as good :)

  • thank you!!! :D i hate it when people say stuff like that, it bugs me lol

  • ok listen geniva10 you r stupid. ok that is an awesome horse!!!!!!! there head is suposed to be like that. i would like to c u get ur fat butt out there and stop that horse like that. ya dont mess with reiners... they bit and they bit hard!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This horse is trained very well, the bit is fine, all he is doing is dropping off the bit when he puts a little pressure in his mouth after he gave presignal when he kicks his legs out, people shouldn't comment on what they know nothing about.

  • also...you wouldn't get that kind of stop if the horse didn't respect the bit or his job, that is a +1 stop

  • its supposed 2 b like that. the lower the head the better. u get marked down @ a show if their heads r up high. n its not cruel how they ask em to keep their heads low.

  • then how come in all the nrha shows, the big futurities, world congress u name it, and reining shows they have their heads low to the ground?

  • yeeah eum type in best reining horse...

you ont see one hat his head is LOW like this.

  • do u even rein? oh and ya i typed in best reining horse and u know what i saw? - horses heads that are low.

  • u know wht, ill talk 2 u about reiners when u post a vid of u doing reining so good bye :P

  • Geniva10. My horse used to be a Reining horse, he naturaly holds his head low, its in his conformation. Go look at some of my videos of him, he has a rather flat back and flat neck, which makes him good for reigning. Theyre bred to have their heads low, it improves their balance, try spinning a horse with his head way up! Having their head low doesnt mean that theyre unhappy, its just how theyre bred!

  • Thank you!! finally someone who knows reiners! :D i hate how ppl act all-know-it all about stuff like this lol

  • its stretches the horses neck, and when it's head is ow 'stead of sticking up up in the air, you have better control :(

  • Lol what have you done to its tail?

  • The tail is plaited so they don't step on it or drag out any hairs.

  • Wow! Good riding!!!

  • yes gege.........si o megl a cavall

  • Wow, great job!

    5*

  • heyy nice rding but yeah mabye it is time for a better bit that horse doesnt seem to respect it :)

  • "Doesn´t seem to respect it?" How can you say this if ther´s no contact with the mouth at all?

  • good riding

  • Gotta love that! I would love to do reining some day!

  • That bit is probably the wrong fit, or too harsh. Remember, when your horse is acting up, go down to a snaffle, work the problems out their, then move back up. Never move up a bit if you don't have to. I mean horses can neck rein in a snaffle.

  • that was really great, i love reining so much my horse and i will be in doing it soon i'm excited so maybe i'll be able to do that! :D

  • I am glad to see a video that actually shows a horse in correct form. Thanks for the video! I wish he was in my back yard!

  • nice, i think the bit is a bit extream though....

  • if his head is so low, the horse can get out of balance easily.

  • No, it's a sign the horse is relaxed, they are used and trained to have their heads low

  • yea but i dont that low

  • how do you teach that?! I want to get my horse to do that

  • that bit is way to extrem that is y the horses head is way to low!

  • Beautiful horse!

  • That's not in American country!!! My brother is on horse and we live in Naples. Thanks for the comments!!!

  • he's got alot of extend ...thats rele nice to see you see some horses that take prissy runns..i love how he goes full force

  • Great sliding stop, nice, safe drop to the haunches. He looks a bit sour, but we all have our off days.

  • pointless? I'm an eventer and even i can see that it's very useful. I have trained my horse some reining moves because its excellent for control and balance. The horse looked more excited and pumped than pissy. My horse gets like that when he's anticipating going for a gallop

  • thats great for your horse.

  • okay "taliaa070" a lot of reining horses absolutely love to do sliding stops. i have a two year old and she does them all over the place on her own, and she does rollbacks too, all on her own. horses swat their tails for a variety of different reasons

  • mmmk w/e

  • you're an anti-reiner i guess. which is funny because guess what we dont care. you can go be wrong and keep to yourself

  • oh yeahh, im sure your horse does sliding stops in the field.. hahah.

  • and I'm sure your horse does extended trots and collected canters in the field...

  • Umm asking them to extend and collect isnt close to making them spin in tight circles and stop dragging their feet behind them. And I don't do extended trots or collected canters I barrel race...

  • Oh, Taliaa, I'm suprised! Thats not fair! You shouldn't say that. Reining is not pointless. This particular horse is cranky,(probably because of that bit) but reining renforces the use of one's leg and their seat to ride. I do reining, and every horse I ride loves it.

  • Noo that was a couple months ago, my cousin got on here and commented on alott of reinging videos. I know everyones mad at ME lol.

  • Oh. That sucks! :-/ My little sister does that all the time. I was gonna say, that doesn't sound like you.

  • That horse looks pissy and as it doesn't like his job.

  • i agree, some horses swat their tails for other reasons tho, but this horse's head is super low, it doesn't look happy about how it has to carry itself.

  • not bad, nice stop!

  • i love this horse's stop...i've looked at this video multiple times because this stop gives me chills!! lol

  • wow nice stop!!!

  • Whoa! :O He stops very good!

  • whoooooa =o) ... very nice

  • Very nice horse and that was an awesome stop!
