  • I like this but my brain can't handle it o.O

  • i made 3, so thats 90 peices, this one needs 90 so ill have to give up on all 3 of them to make this, but until i make another so ill have atleast 1 with 30 peices, ill then make this

  • i like when simple modules make a great kusudama :D

  • i like when simple modules all together made a great kusudama :D

  • the inside part looks cool

  • I love the music

  • can you tell me how many 5 unit- rings this would have?? and, is this made of 90 peices???

  • 12 5-unit rings and 20 6-unit rings, which surround the 5-unit rings, yes 90 units required ; )

  • Thanks!!!

  • isnt it made with only 90 peices and i think you can push the areas with the ring of five units in and make a ball-ish kind of thing (for the huge star)

  • indeed "only" 90

  • i would love to make one.

  • not difficult, just a lot of work ;)

  • *psst* you actually made a tonillo dodecahedron! D:

The 6-unit rings need to border the pentagon's edge instead of corners. But....I think this looks prettier than the truncated icosahedron. The T-Icosahedron starts to sag and the bottom becomes kinda flat on these types of units. Plus...who would want to make 270 tonillo units!?

  • Ahhhh ... Ra-polyhedron-Djehuty!!! ;) I know what you mean.!. now that you mention it... I actually never considered the base of the tornillo modules. Just like the tornillo GSD I considered the tips of the pointy tornillo modules to be the vertices. Again the discussion opens up all kinds of interesting naming options for this model!! The remaining 51 characters I have in this comment will not be enough to even scratch the surface :D :D D: !!

  • hah XD

Well I shouldn't have really mentioned that. But what really got me to comment was the fact that it looks soooooooo clean for something that large.

I mean...Sonobe units start coming appart easily once you get to 120 units. This seems sooo solid even at 90 units!

I should really try this, I'm surprised at how stable it is.

and yes I didn't think to try seeing them as the vertices....origami always has ways of making anything sooo interesting :D

  • Ah yes I've made the truncated Icosahedron with 270 sonobe modules as well x.x

you think the phizz units are ugly??? :(

I wonder if it would be cool to make a truncated icosahedron out of the Arabesque units...those units are like hurricane-proof its so stable..

  • Ugly is relative of course ;) ... so many options so little time ... you should make vid of your collection and include the arabesque bucky ball :D

  • haha I was just kidding :) Yes the PHiZZ units are not the most design-worthy unit, but I love its simplicity and its stability.

and yes I wish I could make videos of my stuff, but I have no camera :D I rely on people like you to inspire me to make new models.

I've been doing this stuff for about 15 years now and within the last year I've discovered more than ever thanks to people on youtube.

    Thanks everyone! :)

  • Is it actuly worth making?

  • Only one person can answer: you yourself ;)

  • i think it is :P

  • please pm me the song name :D

  • Called "gentle thoughts" :) and can be downloaded from site mentioned in description

  • pachelbel's cannon made epic :D

  • Woah.. Youre awesome 8]

  • Good Modification!!!

  • If this is realted to a buckyball, arent buckyballs easy to break when you hit it once? This model looks alot sturdy

  • So this is the "Hairy Buckyball". Looks fantastic! I'll be learning from your vids for a while.

  • Judging from the models in your vids there is not much to learn!! ;D

  • So you need 30 sheets of paper? And were do you go to learn how to make one spike?

  • O_o the link below this vid!

  • wow..

i always wanted to try it...

    but 120 units..

    :s...

    thanks for the videos..

    you're the best :)

  • Muchísimas gracias!!

  • You have wonderful videos! Really great! thank you!

  • Tusen takk!!

  • :-D

  • 120... units?!?!? :O

I can't imagine how much time it took you... anyway... the result is worthy of the effort!

    :-)

    Thank you for sharing!

    5*

  • Grazie mille!!

  • :-D
