IAF LCA Tejas in action & ADA infrastructure

LCA has some major problems even after its induction, the most important one being a lack of thrust; the test flights have only reached M1.4 and 4Gs.The Indians don´t know which engine to fit in the LCA since their "indigenous" Kaveri-engine is years from working, if it will work at all. Jet-engine companies from both Russia and France have trying to fix it, but it seems to be at a dead end. Any new engine they choose will require major redesign of the fuselage.

I am not a fan of India, and I support Pakistan. India has experience when they developed a joint project with Russia on a previous aircraft. India is ahead in many things, such as music, movies, defence & space programs & medicine, but also ahead in HIV / AIDS cases, more homeless people. IAF Cheif Marshall stated a few months ago..saying that over 1/2 of what IAF is obsolete and his greatest fear was from PAF. Coming back to the LAC, when its fully operational we can compare it and see.

India is just making its false claims for LCA in order to influence the the world due to the failure of LCA. LCA will be outdated by the time it comes out in full production and India induct it into the services completely by 2015. What a waste of time and money. I can’t figure out India when it comes to projects like Arjun and LCA. The Arjun-project started in 1972 and now almost 40 years later all they have to show for are prototypes, same story with LCA.

Compared to developed countries India has poor infrastructure to build such fighter planes. Electronics parts which was required to build the primary displays and radar systems are denied by European countries and USA. So everything excpt engine is developed indigenously.

@bestfighterpilot 1)LCA has a G limit of +9 to -3, it has an AOA of about 28, but the entire envelope of flight has not been opened yet as it is indias first attempt on indigenous quad-fly by wire(can pakistan even spell that..lol)

2)LCA is an all weather fighter .This is 2010 .LCA completed 1500 hours of all weather flying.

3) Its costler as it is advanced, with a max composit fraimwork

Small nose intakes limit its high speed maneuverability.Hal is trying to fix that problem but nobody knows how long its going to take.JF 17 has a higher air to ground capability. Above all JF-17 is a fully operational fighter jet where as LCA is still underdevelopment and failed in many essentional test. The biggest problem is its Engine.

You got that wrong. Sukhoi is developing the single seater PAKFA, while HAL is developing the 2 seater variant. India is developing the avionics and digital communication suites for both variants. The onboard computing (processors and software) are completely Indian (on both variants).

So, as you can see, Russia is not developing PAKFA on its own. Read about the project before commenting.

So far the track record of Chinese aircraft is hardly notable.

The only countries to have ever purchase them are those who, due to political reasons, can not get Russian, French, Swedish or NATO designs or are so poor that they can not afford non-Chinese. Often they are acquired to show that they DO have some kind of air force.

In past wars, China has never demonstrated technical finesse, instead relying on human waves. They have practically zero air-combat experience.

LCA is fabulous. The very fact that DRDO built a jet, and such an ambitious one at that thrills me. We all know that the infrastructure cannot be compared to what they get in the west or even China. We have a lot to do but this is an amazing 1st step. I'm sure this is much better than what it might fight in the future. Hope we see it getting inducted soon. A bigger Engine will be gorgeous. @desktopdreamer LCA has taken 25 years for its development and it still not ready to induct. The Tejas was supposed to have replaced the Mig 21s, MiG23s and MiG27s 20 years ago. The Tejas has yet to reach production status.Instead, it continues to perform endless flight tests and most of those are failed. Difficulties with flight controls & power plant continues to be plagued with technical difficulties, the worst of which was the collapse of the engine during high-altitude tests.

A 25years lead time to develop a fighter aircraft is unrealistic.IAF was never enthusiastic about inducting LCA.The aircraft's combat performance was dismal and so was its weapon load and Engine problem.Its engine & a fly-by-wire system has serious defects.During its prototype tests the LCA prototypes were grounded for many months on many occasions.It has failed in many flight tests.

@Howard0Hughes LCA has some major problems as it seems now, the most important one being a lack of thrust, the testflights have only reached M1.2 and 4Gs, not exactly impressive for a multi-role fighter. The Indians don´t know which engine to fit in the LCA since their "indigenous" Kaveri-engine is years from working, if it will work at all. Jet-engine companies from both Russia and France have trying to fix it, but it seems to be at a dead end.

because the Indo Pak, China and Bangladesh borders stretch for thousands of miles and a responsible country cannot afford to accidentally hurt a civilian..even the US has trouble stopping infiltration across the Mexico border...

The same arguements were made by nay sayers of the Eurofighter, Abrams tank, etc. Yet both, through actual combat and foreign sales orders, have proven them wrong.

New designs DO take years to perfect. There is no substitute for having indigenous weapons systems designed for your own countries unique operating conditions. Anyone can just buy a weapon. There is no substitute for actually building one and gaining technology that can be applied to countless other areas.
