How can he hate this movie? How can.. anyone hate this movie? I actually laughed at the Fred scenes more than I laughed at his criticisms. Though this was one of my favorite flicks growing up, so I'm biased. It's actually more amusing now that I'm older, because I have more context for the jokes.

I really liked this movie. Seeing the mother trying to keep Phoebe Cates down, despite the fact that she was a bad little girl with an imaginary friend that made her want to torment her awful, AWFUL mother... I liked it. I haven't seen it in years, but I liked it.

Back then there was 3 main ways to cope with mental illness

1) ignore it; Do not giving it any validation

2) pacify it; Give it validation in an attempt to neutralize the situation

OR

3) take a pill; Why settle for a friend in your head when you can have a monkey on your back!

I actually think the actor who played Fred is actually a good actor. At the end when he gets serious, I think he actually did a great job. He probably was trying too hard to be funny or he had bad direction. Either way, I don't think this movie isn't the worst, nothing great but nowhere near terrible.

And the music of The Omen simply complements that.
