i feel bad for him, one of my favorite players and a player i thought could bring this team a championship career ends of a injuriy one of the sadest sports situations i have ever had to witness
Brandon Roy will always been one of the biggest what ifs in sports history. We saw what he could do with bad knees. Healthy, this guy is for sure a hall of famer with multiple championships. I still doesn't seem real that he is gone now. One of the few true superstars this franchise has ever had.
Brandon Roy will never be forgotten. Its a shame that his career had to end so early. Brandon Roy will go down as the most clutch NBA player to ever play the game in my book.
Roy I'll never forget u and neither will the N.B.A I don't know why God put you in this circumstance but I believe something good is going to come out of it Brandon Roy #7 U a Bosssssssss For Life u bro
GREAT VIDEO, one of the best Roy montages i've seen yet, my all time favorite-He brought Rip City to where it is today. I've never seen so much heart.
GREAT VIDEO, one of the best Roy montages i've seen yet, my all time favorite-He brought Rip City to where it is today without him. I've never seen so much heart.
Broy was amazing his first two years but fell after big time. I see Tmac, Yao, Ghill, Vcarter, Kmart, Jkidd, and A Haradaway as they fought to come back from their injuries makes me look at Broy and Greg with a bitter taste. At least Aldridge is still fighting to keep the Blazers alive.
@MSotelo503 I think it's more of a situational thing. Roy's knees were completely bone on bone, to the point that he had to have a surgery after every game to reduce inflamation. Yet, he still put forth one of the greatest playoff performances in history last year against Dallas. Oden, well, that dude, I just don't know.
@MusicSportsPolitics As much I hate Kobe and he does have the same problem as Broy's knee Big diff he takes care of it ASAP. Not only that look at other pro athletes like Frank Mir who was in a bad wreck and doctors told he would never fight in the UFC again. Granted that one Dallas game was great but one game since sophomore year was long over due. It does suck just to think what could have been the big young three. Broy GO and LMA.
@MSotelo503 I just don't think it is fair to look at something as a universal thing. I think it is more situational. It's not like there is 1 knee injury, and tough and smart players come back from it, while others don't. There are hundreds of knee issues, and you can get them all to varying degrees. Chances are, Broy's were in worse condition, and he made the decision that it wasn't worth him play basketball anymore.
@MusicSportsPolitics Prime example Cancer you let it runs it's course it will kill you internally. You can't sit there and let everyone take care of you or your body cause in reality no one cares. Broy and GO failed on listening to their body. LMA heart's condition is severe he could die especially when you got other athletes dying from it but guess what he takes care of it.
@MusicSportsPolitics Broy was good and great in his rookie season but fail to take care of his body nuff said. I'm just saying the truth and being a realist. Just cause a doc says nothing wrong doesn't mean nothing is wrong. Top of that he folded vs Houston and PHX.
@MSotelo503 He hardly played vs Pheonix because he was injured, and Houston was his first playoff series ever, and he didn't 'fold' at all. Anyways, I just don't think it's fair to say a player was irresponsible with his body simply because other players came back from completely differant injuries than he had.
Against HOU, his numbers and Kobe's numbers were roughly the same....except Roy played against a healthy Yao Ming in the middle. Battier called him a 10-11 time All-Star in the making. Artest called him the best player he's played against.
As for PHX, he was injured. If healthy, they would've had no one that could stop him (look at what an elite SG did to them in the WCF that year). Also, don't forget Roy dropped 52 points on the Suns not too long before.
@MrJoshher Also, it had nothing to do with taking care of his body.
It's just a degenerative condition. You can't do anything about that. It's not like he didn't take rehab seriously. In fact, by retiring now, Roy actually chose to take care of his body over damaging it even further.
@MSotelo503 It's not just a simple knee injury. It's a degenerative condition. It's like stretching a rubber band too far. It'll snap! Thus, waiting one month versus one year isn't going to save that rubber band.
As for Roy blaming everyone:that was something the media blew way out of proportion. ESPN wanted more drama and ran with it. When the Blazer players were asked about Roy's apology to Andre Miller, they weren't sure what he was apologizing about. It was out of context.
@Joshumitsu Lol you must not follow the Blazers much? Broy was interviewed after a bad game and he said "That's what happens when you put a slow player with me" and "Blake is better and should start". Statements like those offended Andre but he handled it well and professional.
I will leave it like that Maxmillion is a great video maker and don't want to overwhelm his art with my comments.
@MrJoshher I am not denying his first two years were great and part of his third year but your off on the stats with Kobe. Roy ruined the chemistry by blaming everyone but himself the he was playing his last two years. Roy's word became final say and it ruined a lot of things and him coming back early was plain stupid after surgery.
Uhhh....dude. Degenerative knees. What part don't you get about that? That means, ever since college, when he had that surgery, his knees have been getting worse. Bone-on-bone is what they call it. It's not something you can just prevent by taking a few months off or waiting until next season.
And yes, his numbers against Houston (Yao, Battier, Artest) were almost the same as Kobe's. Look it up:
@Joshumitsu Goodness my point is that DEGENERATIVE KNEE's is preventable! A Doctor and even a person with some sense would know after knee surgery it may not be the best idea to play on it. Yes his stats were good for only playing 6 games but kobe avg 30 plus over the whole playoffs and I hate kobe.
@M2Ka16 cuz roys knees are way way worse then kobes was. roy doesnt have any meniscus left in his knees, roy is bone on bone in his knees. kobe still had at the time and still does. but kobe is starting to get there.
brandon roy we will NEVER forget you!!!!! u are a one of a kind player that no one can replace!!! ur such a humble guy and a AMAZING player! i cant thank u enough for what u did to this portland orginization. =) ur missed alot. dont give up. we all look up 2 u!!! u worked SOOOOO hard to be where u were and it ended to soon =( #7 always and forever<3
Its hard to watch this he did so much for portland turning this team from the jail blazers back to the trail blazers if your from portland you understand how much this guy is loved hope he comes back to retire his number at the rg.
I swear they could make a movie about Brandon Roy's career. His journey to the NBA and the dramatic end. All the great basketball movies don't have the team winning a championship, but they do have that one incredible game at the end. Only with Brandon Roy the it's a true story.
I'm a huge Rockets fan, but after that playoff series against Portland, there's only one player I respect more than Brandon Roy as a complete basketball player in the Western Conference, and he's got 5 rings and wears the number 24. So yea, I'm a huge Brandon Roy fan.
Great work, especially for the footage ! You are one on my favorite Nba video maker !
I try to make a good tribute for B.Roy too. If you take time to watch this in my channel & deliver your opinion to me they would be nice ;-) Sorry for my English !
Do you happen to have a 1080p version available for download. I see you have a 720p one available, but if I am going to watch this for who knows how long it might as well be in the best quality possible. Thank you for making this video, it is great.
Brandon Roy Aka (The Natural) gave the us NBA fans a taste of what the NBA should be. I will never forget the countless plays that made us feel like a kid in a candy store. In those short 5 seasons B Roy has cemented himself as one of the NBA greats. I reallt hope he becomes a Blazer coach. Oh yeah Retire his jersey ASAP!
to think that in a normal world, we'd have healthy BRoy and Oden on our team playing for years together....and what Portland has accomplished without that...
It's sickening inside really to watch this video and come to the realization that no matter what, we're never gonna see him play again. The league is now WITHOUT him already. And we'll never see him progress through the playoffs, and God knows he could have made it to the NBA fucking Finals.
Always devastating to see injuries derail careers. He was definitely on his path to become a Hall of Famer. I will miss watching him play. He was one of the greatest scorers in today's game.
@Raymond4561 haha, lets not get carried away...But it breaks my heart to see broy retire early. He was an awesome player and an even better person. As someone who isn't a blazers fan, he was amazing
My 2k12 my player is with the rosters where Roy is on the game. i'm getting a trade there now, great player and sad that he had to retire. i wanted him to come help my Bulls and D-rose. too bad there are terrible things that happen to great people.
I always made sure I had him in a 2k franchise. He was a beast and gave it his best every time he stepped on the court. It's sad to see such a determined player retire without showing all his skills. I wish he never got injured, Who knows he might have 2 MVPS by now, Okay, I'm Asian and I was more sad about Brandon Roy's retirement more than I was about Yao Ming's. Brandon Roy is just that amazing. #Brandon Roy Swag All day #7
I hope no one takes this the wrong way but man, why did this have to happen to such a great guy? Why not someone like Bynum, Artest, or some player with an ego bigger than his head? If anybody shouldn't get this, it was B Roy. As a die hard Blazer fan, he is my fave of all time. What he could have done is not what we should look at, he gave his whole heart and soul for the time he did play. Hopefully he'll come back and take a coaching job with the Blazers.. Go B Roy #7
as a fan of the front-court in general, it's kind heartbreaking to see young talent cut short; but life still goes on, and that's a much bigger challenge.. I hope he move's on and still do great things
kobe and wade had nothing on b roy. This is one of the saddest most unfortunate loss ever in the history of the nba. And to anybody out there who thinks roy wasnt "flashy" enough, check out just 1 of his highlights and correct yourself.....
It is very unfortunate for Brandon Roy, one of the most fundamentally sound players I have ever seen play, leave on these terms but I respect his decision and the legacy he left behind. Here's to hoping he will make a comeback a la Grant Hill. Thanks again Max for your brilliant work.
This Guy was not even in his prime yet. He got golden years still ahead of him.Ima kings fan but Roy was one of my favorite players in the NBA. As a NBA fan I'm devastated.
Time for b.roy to come back. So raw, nba needs you

Never forget

to think that in a normal world, we'd have healthy BRoy and Oden on our team playing for years together....and what Portland has accomplished without that...
It's sickening inside really to watch this video and come to the realization that no matter what, we're never gonna see him play again. The league is now WITHOUT him already. And we'll never see him progress through the playoffs, and God knows he could have made it to the NBA fucking Finals.

I for sure hope he comes out of retirement healthier then brandon has ever been but for now life has to go on

Always devastating to see injuries derail careers. He was definitely on his path to become a Hall of Famer. I will miss watching him play. He was one of the greatest scorers in today's game.

Brandon Roy and Tracy McGrady are 2 players who could've been in the talks of the best player in the league, and the closest to Jordan. Shame.
GeekKnowledgeE 2 months ago 4
@GeekKnowledgeE
Tracy was never the leader that Roy was though. He had more physical talent but Roy was destined for greatness.
