@linn1000 a guy like you is walking around with a dick size of peanut, and thats for real,335d is stronger than 335i? you need to go see the comparison made by germans on both cars, the 335i smacks that ass on a straight and in circuit, and handles better and the sound and the electric responsiveness can't just be thrown away for a lazy heavy and dirty diesel, blah!!
This is the problem with the internet, no one seams to understand how torque works.
Torque is altered by transmission, it's the whole point of it, to trade angular velocity for torque and vice versa. The 335d and 335i have the same top speed but the 335i revs to 7000rpm while the 335d only to 5000, so the 335i has shorter gearing (think of it this way: both cars in 6th gear, the 335i feels like it's in 5th by comparison). Oh and the 335i also makes max torque at like 2000rpm ;)
Yeah, except for the fact that at the wheels (where it matters) the 335i actually has more torque than the 335d at any revs AND you can get a greater power gain with a remap than you do with the 335d AND it's already more powerful to begin with.
The 335d is tuned, can't you people read? The only way a 335d will out-accelerate a 335i is if it's tuned for more POWER, engine torque numbers mean shit and people would know that if they had a clue at all about physics or mechanics.
I love this, people need to get it in to their heads that bhp is all pub talk, it's the torque that counts! why would you buy an M3 over one of these? I drove a 5 series with the same engine and I was very impressed! :)
Yes I have the 330d tuned at 290 Bhp and 500 Ft torque and it is already so quick. At any given gear the maximum acceleration will happen at torque peak. In saying that
torque is only a force applied and has no unit of time measurement. BHP is the amount of work done over time (movement done) so rightfully we should compare BHP for performance. So the 335i accelerate at about the same rate through the rpm as opposed to 335d who push harder at max torque and then slowly decrease through rpm.
The problem with this is that the tranny is rated for up to 516lb/ft of torque..anything over that, and you're asking for failures. The fact that you're running it at 530 should be of major concern for you, unless you've already planned on swapping out your transmission.
BMW only offers the 335d in an Auto because they don't currently have a manual transmission capable of handling the torque that the d provides...if BMW has limits on components, there's a reason for it.
You know some facts not all though im afriad. The 530ibs is third gear onwards. First ad 2nd have torque limiters to prevent failure. Ive done over 150 1/4mile runs with no issues!
No, they don't. The 335d E90/E92 is not available in a MT, no matter where you live.
And I know enough about the car, mybizuk, that I know you're pushing more to the tranny than the car can handle. Don't oversell yourself to look better, mate. It'll just make you look bad. :)
Because I obviously know more about your car than you do. When your tranny fails and BMW refuses to cover it, I hope you appreciate having to pay for it yourself.
It's the risk you run, and you obviously don't care. I'll mourn the loss of your tranny, but not the cost it's going to cost you to replace it. At that point, I'll just laugh and say, "I told you so."
@mybizuk what exactly are you trying to tell us by the video? that a 335d is faster than a 335i? you can go convince a 16yr old with that not grown ups,we've seen the comparison of both cars on various videos from the makers in munich germany and is clear the shitty diesel does 0-100 in 6,7secs while the pertol does it in 5,6 thats way faster, plus they both have turbos,so how the fuck am i supposed to believe this propaganda video of yours?
@kay19833 where the fuck do you get 6.7 seconds for the diesel? 335d stock you are looking at 5.9 seconds. more to the point, 0-60 counts for shit as the diesel is slower due to the heavier diesel engine block. past 60mph the 335d especially when mapped will shit on the petrol any day of the week. 335d has been proved to be a monster when mapped on a number of reports. read them and inform yourself a little more
@peaps BMW has said that they don't manufacture a MT that can handle the torque that the d puts down, and given the rev range, if one is being honest, you really wouldn't want to drive this car in a MT.
For people questioning the 335d, please see 'fuel for thought' article which compares both stock and tuned 335i and 335d cars.
Search google for 'evolve fuel for thought' that will answer any doubters!!!

Probably regular automatic gearbox, and the 335d has "SMG 2" I suppose.

@ linn1000 LOL..
Since so many kids have no idea about how fast diesels can be, maybe you can makes some $ off of them at the track?!?!
j/k, that would be too easy!
Unless it's a crazy kid with a 9 sec Civic!

@BigUriel I dont get what you're saying? The D surely has more torque because it's peak torque figure is 580NM, 180 higher than the I. ?

Read what I wrote again and if it still does't make sense just google "how transmissions work" or "transmissions for dummies" or something.

Yeah great argument there. Do you have any idea how much power you can get from a 335i with a remap?

@Aligher1 I was wondering why you can't get manual 335Ds. Is that it then, just cos the torque is so high? Any other reasons?

Hi there,
On a previous map, she was dyno'd at 345HP although not been dyno'd on current map.
She also hase over 530ibs of torque.
