I know you said the PSU overcut doesn't bother you but incase does, maybe you should think about covering that hole with some sound damping material such as foam. Just an idea :-)
Your mods are great ideas but you rllly need experience with power tools because those cuts look terrible. Im sure if you had professional help with this it would look simply spectacular.
@Technophile3430 Agreed, I'd say ive improved alot since I've started here. If you see some of my more recent videos the cuts are much, cleaner on the newer builds.
Hey! Nice mods. The job you did on the fan hole in the bottom is good.. It's hard to cut it perfrectly round. Just a question on your GTX 285. How does it perform? I have an HD 4890, and it was apparently supposed to compete with the 285 but I highly doubt it's close in performance.
Your case looks a lot better since your first build of the Tempest, I like your bottom intake mod. I'm going to cut a square hole for my psu next week as well.
is there enough room in this case for the new 5970? need about 14" inches of clearance i believe . getting the tempest evo assuming its the same dimensions as this one.
Yes there is plenty of room. if you take out the top hdd cage. Even with the hdd cage you might be able to fit one. just make sure theres no hdd connected. I have atleast 4-5 inches of clearnce on my gtx 285
yeap quesadilla247, theres more than enough space for the 5970 without even removing the hdd cage, but if you feel like having more room in there, you can always remove the cage as grpace said
awesome thanks alot :) I was going to get the obsidian but heard is was bad for air cooling... so was kinda stuck with the haf 932 but I just find it ugly as hell! the tempest evo is so sexy.. so this is now on my order list! when I get my parts in ill make a video :)
I have the tempest too, but, i just wanna paint it, but i dont know how to do it right, becouse, if i just paint it with a spray can, it will finished bad... can you tell me how did you paint it?, wath do you do first?
i have a tempest too and i think that idea of planting fan on the botom is really good. I will paint my interier black soon. Have you had any problems with painting and can you tell mi what to pay attention.
Yeah check out my painting guide I posted on overclock . net
Damn spaces...
Yeah just follow the guide, I reccomend using a clearcoat. I didn't and its fine but while cutting i was scuffing up a few parts of the paint. Make sure you do all your cutting/mods before you paint.

Hole saws are absolutely painful to use with cases. I used one to cut a hole for my window (no dremel to make an incision cut) and it took quite a bit of force to get it to go.
Did you use a 45 degree angle when using the dremel to make the cut? Makes it come out nicer :)
Excellent job with the cable management, I'll be doing some of that myself once I get my fan controller and my yate-loons. Gotta make some room in the drive bays, doncha know!
@DilynCorner Yeah I tried the 45 degree this it pretty cool but I found if you just do multiple straight cut with a very small wheel its fastest/easiest. Just my preference, thanks for my comments!
@asus3571 I have a sythe ultra kaze 3000... not known to be quiet at all but I have it hooked up to a zalman fan controller thats modded to the top of my case. It was running on low. Its also on a 25mm fan shroud so there is no dead spot where the fan spins.
your bottom 120 mm fan isn't dust filtered?

I actually have the 5870 now but the gtx 285 performs a bit better than the 4890.
The 4890 is on par with the gtx 275.
Definitely dont update your 4890 to a gtx 285. Not worth it
grpace 2 years ago
@grpace imo ATI fails big time with the 4890. How good is that 5870? Was thinking of that, or GTX 480 when it comes out.
crissglitch666 2 years ago
U could have got the Tempest EVO and it has a hole at the bottom with dust filter for your psu.

@xXxReptilectricxXx Unfortuantly its not that easy.
Google "How to paint interior of case" and choose the second one that comes up I wrote it on overclock . net
There it will explain how to do it.
Good luck!

Thanks
