Elvis recorded this song only two months after his divorce. A divorce that he never wanted and a divorce that led to his depression and death. This song i remember hearing it around the late sixties or earily 70s.from other people singing it,but the first time I heard A Elvis recording was around 1980,off the Elvis Country Album Guitar Man,and by far Elvis i think does it the best,he takes ownership of this song,the way he sings this song,you can see the hurt,you hear in this song,of a person,who had the Love of thier life,and plain throws it away,and man you feel it.

This is my 7th most favorite Elvis song and he easily has the very best rendition of it. It definitely should have been a hit for Elvis (it's such a travesty that it wasn't). It's such a very beautiful, passionate and lovely song and I'll never ever get tired of hearing it. Elvis will definitely always be #1.
