Why did it take 2 days to set up this stage? Why didn't they just set it up in the hours it takes the day before the show? I'm just curious, I have no idea how this roadie stuff works although I am a big fan of music and appreciate what they do. It's true that their hard work goes unnoticed.
@Marc89A i worked for a big stage crew in torointo called NASCO...it takes a while to set it up because of permits and paper work and most of all bcause they are roadie..they do whatever the fuck they want cuz they know they can get it done in a few hours...so they space it out...they would rather do it in two days and not bust a crazy sweat then to do it in a few hours and bust there asses...thats what i seen first hand anyway for the rolling stones tour
I love setting this stuff up!! I've not been working as a roadie too long... Only just over a year but it is an amazing job!! I've set up some big gigs, like 5 or 6 trucks and it only took 6 hours. But if you can take the time and get paid for it I wouldn't say no haha!! :) I'm going through university training to be a sound engineer and I've been learning just as much through my job as I am through uni. Just came back from setting up for Paul Weller. Will try to get some vids! Great video!! :)
hahaha it took them 2 days to set that up. thats not very good at all. U2 360 tour with the claa set up takes 2 days. that kiss set up could have taken only 6-8 hours to set up and 4-5 to take down
@rattlehead871 Look for an IATSE union in your area. Google IATSE. Contact the buisness agent or steward and ask how to get started. If you have any questions feel free to message me here. Good luck
that is to say, in the states, its typically a one day deal. In europe, where KISS are much more popular, it is a bigger production. I worked the reunion show in phx arizona 98, and we were in the venue by 5 am, unloading the first trucks, and didnt leave until about 5 am the next day.
couldnt be more wrong. KISS employs appx 15-20 travelling roadies, who sign a 9 month contract, or 6 month contract, and work every single show. The tour employs LOCAL stagehands who may NOT be union at each city they stop in. this crew can range from 50, to upwards of 200 dpending on the production.
Ihere yah on the rodies ,depending on their pay it might be good who knows ??? I'm sure they know that and it's LOTs of travelling as you already know
its to bad the roadies dont get credit, where credit is deserved, cause with out the men and women who set up these stages, there would be no Kiss, no nothing.
this video was created by our staff using the still cam captured frame by frame. we then assembled it as the video you see here. thanks to everyone who appreciates it.
that is correct believe it or not, on the truck count, but KISS loadins are usually a 5am call, and the show is in ready by about 2 in the afternoon, with soundcheck being at around 3-330. Load OUT, takes about 4-5 hours.

Most "roadies" actually belong to a stagehands union and hire out when a show comes to town.
WomackPhotoKCMO 2 years ago
yea, like they only work in one venue. diffrent guys everytime.
