Unfortunately, Seafair is set up to be ideal for hydroplane races. The air show is secondary. The flight line was very far away from the crowd, and I had to keep the camera fully zoomed in at all times, hence the shaking.

y r they using a armed chopper for a rescue??? they should be using the jayhawk....

Coast Guard Dolphins aren't armed. They were originally developed for millitary use though. As was the Jayhawk.

the USCG has begun arming the hh65 as a drug interdiction intercept helicopter currently. they have done so that uscg cutters can start an interdiction effort if needed and not have to wait around for the Stingray to fly from the mainland. That particular chopper isnt armed but has the ability to do so - andrew

Both the Jayhawk and the dolphin are used for rescues. Both can be armed as well (mainly for disabling and warning fire against drug runners). And the Coast Guard is a part of the military, so they are still designed for military use ;)
